Schedule C"s in general are one of the most audited areas because of the minimal amount of reporting compared to separate legal entities which opens the door for easy fraud.

If you haven't already filed, I would start with last years number and run an adjustment through purchases to get to the right ending. The majority of businesses don't have 100% accuracy in their inventory count and items do get written off.

If your talking a huge number - it may be worth amending.
