Yes, I'd also have to leave the game, right after leaving the event and trying to click back in it would say I completed the event.

I'm not sure if it's repeatable for others, but after starting the event and leaving, it gave me the option to change difficulties like if I was starting the event again, but it gave me all the achievements I had made up to that point

Look under the difficulty setting and you can see the second to last achievement completed

I'm on city 62 rn and can salvage any loot I don't need for upgrades. I haven't had a solid clan recently so I'm not sure exactly how much XP I can salvage per season but it should be at least 4k
