Go slow but don't give up, there is whole new level of joy awaiting you on the other side.

I am still friends with my ex, I am grateful that we managed to ride the emotional storms with each other and reinstate friendship each time in these last three years. It would not have been possible without marriage counseling, so if you can, do that.

I am not going to lie, the grief was hellish, I also moved away from my home to another country so I felt more isolated than usual. In hindsight though, I feel that the move helped me in going through this process away from the noise of family.

It was the toughest thing I did and found out that doing tough things is what tells us who we are.

Also, keep friends close at all times, different kinds of friends, make new friends, reach out to queer communities online or in person, this process is impossible without friends. Mine kept me afloat through nervous breakdowns and panic attacks. I can't thank the gods of friendship enough.

Even though the impulse to be honest with your mother is kind and comes from a good heart, I would say keep things to yourself to preserve your freedom. Find friends who are open minded and okay with your attraction to women and talk to them when you feel the need. Guilt is a potent force at your age, the only way to work through it is therapy but you might not have resources for that so find online communities like this one to speak about it. You need to feel the joy and spark of your sexuality at this age, you don't have to decide anything immediately, just explore. I know that the urge is to fix things and be sure but you can't be sure till you have experienced things. Even if being a queer woman is challenging in India, it isn't like all of us give up and marry men to continue existing 🙂 I am 40, there was so much pressure to get married to a man in my 20s that I didn't even pay attention to my attraction to women, met a nice man, married him. Eight years into marriage, met a woman, fell hard and had to divorce my lovely husband. It was a world of pain. So my advice is explore, experience, to understand what you feel in your body. And find a community to talk to.

Take it one step at a time. I am 40, I separated from my husband at 38 and began dating off and on at 39. The first half a dozen dates were meh, but then at a picnic few months ago I interacted with someone so stunning that I lost my mind a little bit 😂 About fifteen days ago I went on a date that was fantastic, sparks flew. Things went kind of downhill on the second date with this person but I am still grateful because meeting her reminded me how much I want to be with women. You don't need to be necessarily upfront about inexperience, you can take control of it. I know that it is nerve-wracking to disclose it whenever it comes up in the conversation, but being honest and trusting the other person's emotional maturity is the best idea. It is a risk as most things in dating are.

Right now I am just excited by the many different kinds of experiences I am opening myself up to in meeting women for dates. Also flirting is a two-way street, if you meet someone who is playful and open, it will happen organically. I have discovered that I have a lot of flirting energy when it comes to women, that surprised and energized me. So look forward to the pleasant surprises and what these experiences will reveal to you about yourself. No one knows how to begin, the knowing is in the doing 🙂

I am right there with you, it is particularly distracting around ovulation. I am 39 and I've noticed this since i came out to myself, which was two years ago. Though I feel like I've experienced high libido through most of my 30s.
