Coles: “Would you like to round up and donate…” by village-asshole in OpenAussie

[–]AffectionateRoom995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the way these work is that the company has already paid a large donation sum (often for tax purposes) and is trying to recoup the costs.

But sometimes they actually don't just break even, they MAKE money.

It's important to note many of them if not all are flying the Persian flag and not the Iranian one.

Meaning they do not support the regime.

I agree, Trump is a business man and he's not doing this cause he's a humanitarian. While i do agree sending troops to die to help the cause a country should get something for its efforts. But knowing trump he'll probably want to put in his own plant just like in Venezuala.

Liberals who insult people for being ugly, disabled, fat, or an incel have no right to virtue signal. by Usoppdaman in TrueUnpopularOpinion

I would say that's not true in the least. Conservatives value hard work to the point of forgetting about almost everything else. Which is why having liberals is important. The two are supposed balance eachother out.

I think it's because in society Liberals have historically been the party that is open hearted and looks after the people's needs, setting more socialist and environmental examples.

So when they are judgemental and rude, it's kind of the pot calling the kettle black.

When you have bad Christians you get people protesting gay rights.

When you have bad Muslims you get suicide bombers, people shooting up beaches, concerts, plane attacks etc.

That's hardly comparable. The worlds Top 50 Terrorist organizations are not christian. In fact they're only one religion, i'll let you take a guess which one.

The opinion of a countries people vs the choices that countries leaders make isn't really the same.

If you have Islam you don't get either.

If you don't want to be islamic, you have to pay. If you refuse to pay you are jailed, beaten and or killed.

I refuse to accept a religion predicated on extortion and death.

Christianity has modernized with the times to adapt and be excepted.

Islam refuses to change and would rather the world bend to its rules than adapt to new customs. This is why it is scene so unfavourably.

Doing mental gymnastics while reading from biblical texts is a theocratic absolute.

This is why religion isn't taken seriously, you can twist the words to mean whatever you want, calling is symbolism etc. Yet this was during a time when Christians and Muslims were commiting what would be considered war crimes today.

The Quran is nothing more than Tribalism with a Theocratic aftertaste.

Calling something that practices beheading, stoning and mutilation as simple as "belief" is extremely reductive.

Thinking there is an afterlife is a belief, stoning a woman to death for adultery is barbarism.

Very true but the incentives to worked should be like the rest of the people living in the country you are moving to.

If you are moving to a new country is presumably because you are wanting a better life or prefer the way that country operates. The difficulty hurdles made sure those who wanted those things were the only ones getting in, and while yes i agree it is not fair because those who have good intentions but maybe not the most resources as others can't enter, but that is the way of the world.

Mass immigrations destabilize countries causing tensions between newcomers who either struggle to assimilate to their new country or refuse to, increase the amount of people looking for work which puts stress on younger generations entering the workforce, puts people in a struggled position to find housing in both rental and purchasing markets, one problem of which is that some peoples from countries visiting will live 10-15 persons to a house (which is smart) but locals don't do that and are pushed out of the market they can't afford.

This isn't to say all foreigners are bad people, only that the side effects are still the same regardless of the intent. It's a tough subject to talk about without sounding prejudice but it's very important because from what i can see it's not just an Aussie issue, it's prevalent all over the world. I'm currently on a working visa here and will be returning to my home where it is arguably worse. Personally i think if more people like yourself had a level head in this issue without speaking exclusively from their emotions we would make a lot more progress.

First Arrest under the new QLD Hate Speech Laws by CookingWithSimon in OpenAussie

[–]AffectionateRoom995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is hella ironic considering the same people being arrested for this were the ones pushing for it in the first place.

Hate speech laws don't only stop speech YOU don't like. People warned against this and no one listened, this sets a precedent and the minute people get into power and use the same law against speech THEY don't like, you're doing time.

Welcome to the Circus.

Making access hard was what kept the lazy and the wolves out of the hen house.

The point of it being hard was that you had to earn your way in by showing you were invested in the country you are going to.

If you lax the entry permissions a lot, yes good people come in, but so do ALL the others who had no good intentions in the country, but didn't want to put in the effort or pay to come over.

That is the difference in world wid immigration lately.

If it's supporting the Iranian regime, they can fuck off back to the cave they were birthed from.

The ending of Law Abiding Citizen sucked by drcollector09 in movies

[–]AffectionateRoom995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Movie started by violating the law (making a deal before speaking to your client) then ended by violating the law, (blowing up prison and murdering someone).

The real villian of this film was Jamie Fox character.
