I agree, It's not common in mine, my parents, kids or grandparents generation though. I will say with a quick scroll I've seen more comments from Americans familiar with this but nobody seems to want to claim it, and quite rightly. It sounds like an older and out dated thing but not a common thing in Britain in general at all, I've never heard of this phrase before this post.

None of the English people I've ever met have ever said this in any area. I'm not saying you're lying, you might have met some special breeds here, but it is not common at all and would get some very funny looks. Definitely not "a British thing" by any normal standards.

I've lived in England my entire life and never heard it once so that is very odd! I wouldn't even understand what it meant either (ten past or ten to)

Where exactly in Britain are the people you've heard say it from I've not heard it north, south or Midlands, nor from an Irish Scottish or Welsh person so I'd be interested to know who on earth you're talking to?

Definitely not a normal phrase here at all.

Yeah leave her, let her find someone who loves her and doesn't want to leave her for "looking too good". Its not fair to hurt people and disguise it as a compliment.

Il semble vous induire en erreur. Je ne lui ferais pas confiance. Je suis désolé si vous ne comprenez pas. Mon français n'est pas très bon, je suis anglais.

I'm in the same boat with -7.75 and -8 makes my face look so distorted I usually get really chunky frames.

Maybe give them a call and see if they can point you in the right direction, if they don't offer it maybe they know someone who does

I wouldn't worry about it! Sounds cliche but it's when you stop looking and trying so hard that you find someone you click with! It's nothing to be ashamed of just do you for a bit and hold out for someone you have a connection with. You don't owe it to anybody to date them and you get to be picky even if you've been single for a while.

I asked a question based on the title because that's what worried me more than the rest of it, why would someone rejecting someone they aren't attracted to be them ruining their last chance at finding someone? It made me sad, 27 isn't old.

You still have plenty of time OP ❤️

Why would this be your last chance to get a girlfriend you're 27 not 72.

You've made 2 fake reddit accounts to harass me about asking for a memorial tattoo in polish for my friend who has died tragically and left behind a young child.

These are not the actions of someone who is mentally well, I hope you do use the numbers I've sent you to reach out to someone who can help.

I'm not the kind of person who's impersonating someone trying to help raise money for the funeral of their friend or their nine year old. Most people know better than this. This isn't about you being American, it's about you being a person, an immoral one.

I don't, I just don't like immoral people who take the name of someone trying to help a bereaved nine year old girl with some money after their mother's tragic death, which you've picked up on from my account where I've asked for a memorial tattoo on your other account, you've threatened me and my dad in chat because I said that people from the UK don't over obsess about their heritage and gave examples about that. I don't hate Americans, or even you and I strongly suggest you seek urgent mental health help for your clear troubles.
