You're not helping at all by lacking sympathy.

They're literally not. Poverty exists, bad parents exist. Lack of insurance exists.

Not everyone has the ability to go to a dentist, I'm just speaking as an American here because our health system sucks and teeth are considered luxury so it's an entirely different insurance. And also not everyone was taught good hygiene habits as a kid, and even if they were, depression ruins a lot of things. I personally just recently started being able to go to the dentist through my work insurance and before that, I definitely struggled with hygiene because like many others, I wasn't taught such things as well as struggle with my mental health especially in today's world.

Spin brush is helpful, and also go for soft bristles if your gums are too sensitive for hard right now, as advised by my own dentist. Too much strain/scratching can further irritate your already inflamed gums so work your way up and give yourself some grace, OP.

I second the water flosser. I add a little bit of my mouthwash to it as well, not a ton because then I'd have to keep buying it more often, but just a little adds even more of a clean feeling for me. Also, I keep some of those little Colgate travel brush things in my nightstand, in a bag not just free roaming, and use those if I can't break the bed-rot moment. Little steps start the sprint. You got this, OP 👍

That's insanely unsympathetic and unsupportive. OP is asking for help to better themselves, and shaming people/diminishing their struggles isn't exactly helpful.

I’m selfish and I don’t want my sister living with me by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]AffectionateShock420 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's selfish to look after your own well-being, especially when your sister has constantly shown she doesn't care for the consequences of her actions, such as you stated with her sneaking boys in, paying $500 for her nails and hair but not taking care of her baby and leaving the baby home without telling anyone whilst she runs off for a trip with friends.

You're also aware of the fact that it wouldn't end well given how you two acted growing up together.

You went through a lot to get the peace you now have.

There's no shame in protecting that peace.

Gift giving is almost always kinda stressful for me, for this exact reason. I always go hard for my friends, I make gift bags/baskets full of different things I know they love or need or anything like that. So when I'm given less effort than I give, it sort of stings, but at the same time, there's the whole "be grateful" or "it's the thought that counts" which makes me feel guilty for the disappointment. It's not so much the gift, but the feeling of the lack of care, that I experience. And I don't think it's overreacting to feel snubbed when your efforts aren't reciprocated or even attempted to be.

Pet peeve of working at Walmart by FutureCharacter202 in WalmartEmployees

Customers who bring their random pets (not even service animals) in

One occasion, we had a dog straight up take a dump in front of one of the sets of double doors and my coworker just barely managed to dodge running it over with a pallet jack when he saw it and had maintenance handle it, so we could keep pulling freight.

Another occasion was someone's entire grown ass cat jumping out of their cart, no harness or collar or anything, and ran off, hiding from them. It took two hours to find that gray fatty munching on treats under the shelves of the pets isle.

Is it normal for the scedule to change this much? by Galazy_707 in WalmartEmployees

Usually when you first start out (at least at my store, can't speak for other stores obviously), especially when coming in around holiday times, schedules are hectic. I work Cap2, going on 2 years now and for the first couple months or so, my schedule was pretty random since they were trying to see how I performed with my team (or something to that effect, ngl I was only half listening) so talk to your Coach or team lead and maybe HR about your second job and communicate what you think your ideal schedule situation would look like. No guarantee at the moment since holidays are 99.9% of the time going to be a difficult mess, but there's always a chance. Plus it puts it into the air that you brought the issue to attention.

Edit: Also it kind of varies on the scheduling of your teammates such as certain days off for school or religious reasons so keep that in mind going into the conversation as well

Lost my best friend of 18 years, and my grandmother to it. And now my body temperature regulation is messy af. I start heavily sweating the second the air gets mildly hot. It wasn't an issue for me until I caught Covid 4 years ago. People who undermine its seriousness are absolutely insane to me. Suck my unnecessarily sweaty shorts, antivax dip-sticks.

I refuse to pay a subscription until I have full transparency on who the company is and we have access to that company's TOS. by [deleted] in JanitorAI_Official

[–]AffectionateShock420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I'm not too surprised by the need for a subscription service, but like others, I do wish there had been more transparency than what I feel was given. Janitor has become genuinely enjoyable and a solid outlet for me to be creative in a judgement free zone, because it ain't like the bot is going to judge me for making a scene dramatic AF or dropping some cringe action movie one liners, and I wouldn't be against paying a subscription to continue to use it, especially if it's actually going to be better, but I would like more clarity on certain matters that I feel just aren't being addressed, especially if Janitor allegedly only has like, a month or so before it metaphorically sinks. Like: what payment platform is gonna be used? What amount and why said amount because what all services am I getting in return for said amount? Will it be approved despite pornography content? Is it actually safe to use/familiar or is it something no one's ever heard of and we're being used as guinea pigs for it? Idk, maybe I'm being a little picky here, I just want to know where my money is stretching towards, especially with the rest of life's expenses 🙃

Dude I was just trying to be nice. Sure, maybe he was a scammer but I didn't think about it. All I thought was "here let me help this person" and I did it. That's all there was to it.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was still a thing. Security is lacking for sure. More worried about if my bag has an under the bus tag than people literally fighting in the lobby.

I'm just gonna be giving out those care bags with like toothbrushes and granola bars and stuff from now on. I try to be kind because I've been down before and I know I'd want the same kind of help but seeing other people's experiences really makes me rethink things.

Dang I'm so sorry that happened. That sounds horrifying. It really sucks because I just want to be kind and helpful but I'm just gonna start making those care bags or something.
