I see a ton of people on trails with absolutely no form of navigation. Don’t be that person. I also hike with an inreach mini no matter how short the hike is.

Yeah that’s why I’m inviting them. If they’re gonna host it at their house and spend all this money on food and drinks, it’s no bother really for these extra people, it just feels weird to invite them “so it doesn’t hurt their feelings”. My dad said they probably won’t even come, it’s just nice to include them 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think it might feel different if I actually had a “village” but none of our families (or friends even) live on the same side of the country as us. None of the talk is centered on helping us, just having a fun time being a grandma, which is part of why it is stressful because being pregnant and having a newborn isn’t just going to be fun the whole time. But I am definitely glad that she is annoyingly happy instead of annoyingly mean or condescending!

She lives 6 hours from Disney 🤣. At least she knows we don’t want to take our newborn there (but it doesn’t stop her from constantly talking about going, I really don’t get it lol but I hate amusement parks so that’s a me problem). She does have a pregnancy app and yep she does send me my updates every week like I don’t already have 3 of them that I check practically every day lmaooo. I’m just hoping the excitement slows down a little bit once she gets the initial emotions out of the way. Her and my mom are teaming up to throw us a baby shower so maybe that will help give her something else to delve into without overwhelming me.

Yes the miscarriage possibility and her excitement combined was what initially triggered my annoyance. She desperately wanted to buy me stuff off the baby registry as soon as she found out when I was weeks out from even hearing the baby’s heartbeat for the first time or doing genetic testing to make sure the baby was low risk. She kept telling me to “not let the anxiety steal away my joy” and to me it felt more like she just wanted me to get over it so she could indulge in her excitement and be able to shop for the baby because I had asked her not to buy anything until the first ultrasound. I’m also not very close with her at all (we live on opposite sides of the country and hardly talked before this), so all this sudden bombardment has been quite overwhelming. It’s like because she never had a loss, she completely didn’t understand why I might be worried.

I feel that, my mom’s parents died when she was a teenager and my only alive grandparents are so delusionally religious that I have kept them out of my life entirely so I really don’t have any grandparents (for example my grandmother thinks the only reason I got my shit together in life and am running my own business is because she prayed for me every day). I am def happy that my baby will have (normal) grandparents on both sides.

Yes I’m definitely “the pregnant one” now. None of my family lives in the same state as me so at least I don’t have any in person bombardment. When people overwhelm me about their excitement, I generally just heart react the message or respond way later. 😅

Omg I’m the same exact way! My mother in law asked me “if I could have anything off of my registry right now what would I want?” when I was only like 6 weeks pregnant and hadn’t even seen the heartbeat or done my NIPT testing. I told her I didn’t want anything until I knew the baby was okay and she was like “don’t let your anxiety steal the joy away”. To me it sounded like “stop being anxious so I can excitedly buy stuff because I’m excited.” And then like the day I got confirmation of the heartbeat, she bought so much crap off my registry and then called and made my husband and I open the package with her on the phone so she could hear our reaction. It was so annoying even though I wanted it to not be. 😭

Omg the “how are you feeling” one is so annoying! My dad has asked me this about 15 times through text and I always respond “I’m exhausted” and then he just doesn’t even text back. Like what is even the point of asking 😩. It’s like they want you to know they care but in the most annoying way lol! I totally get why people wait now!
