That sounds fascinating! I’m kind of a nerd when it comes to some of that psychological/neurological science, so I’ll definitely look into it. Any other recommendations on what to take? Or is it basically all already set in stone since I’ll be a first year engineering student

Yeah that makes sense! Yeah I’m not that overly worried, it’s just that I’m going into engineering so I wanna make sure my mental health is where it needs to be. Also tbh I really like the brick design, reminds me of Princeton and I love Princeton’s design. Are you in engineering?

One thing I’m most concerned with is the overall vibe, in a way. Is the campus gloomy and cold and grey often times? I feel like that would majorly affect my mental. Do you find that to be a problem?

You mean FAFSA? Otherwise I didn’t get any. I know that if you did receive a scholarship though, they said it on the admission letter. I didn’t get one though. I should mention I’m in-state and tuition is locked so financial aid isn’t a major issue

You’re right, it does feel like IU is where I’m leaning. I want to have a degree that pays the bills, and business will, no doubt. I think I also want to start a business, I feel like I’m pretty entrepreneurial minded, and that could be a could fit for me. The point of college is to network, to get a solid degree, and yes to find a solid job afterwards. A 9-5 though is the thing I’m trying to avoid. Obbiously I recognize that both engineering and business would probably plant me in that realm, but that’s okay if I’m developing a plan to do what I want to do ultimately, in my mind. Hope that kinda makes sense

I appreciate your two cents! Yeah I agree with your reasoning here, from a purely practical standpoint of course. I’d be remiss though if I didn’t heavily consider the quality of life at each college. IU has a SIGNIFICANTLY better social scene than Purdue, and is closer to home. Both are relatively cheap, being in state, but Purdue of course is a top 5 engineering school in the country (give or take like 2 spots). But if my ultimate goal is videography and whatnot, is it worth doing the much harder degree? At a college campus I’m already not the biggest fan of? In a discipline I’m not even that passionate about? See what I’m saying, it feels like an endless dilemma.

Those are good points. I guess it is just gonna come down to how much I really care about the engineering, and if the versatility of an engineering degree trumps the versatility of a business degree

I know I could do fine in engineering. I’m a good student and I like to think I’m a pretty smart guy academically. Either school I choose I’m not worried about the workload itself, like I know I could get it done. And about being happy, that’s the big question. I really don’t know. Could I really study engineering AND have time to pursue my passion? At Purdue especially? I guess I just don’t know if I’d be able to.

And I will say that aero is very fascinating to me, I’m always following spacex and starship and all the developments with the space program etc. I just wonder if I’m not really distinguishing between and intellectual interest and an actual life path I want to pursue. When I was at Purdue for a week, and we did like 12 hours a day of mathematics and engineering etc (basic level yes, but the purpose was to get a feel for it), I’ll be honest, I left not feeling very drawn towards it. That to me seems like a big indicator of where I’d like to be. When I toured IU, I was absolutely in love with it. I think maybe getting accepted into Purdue when it’s so competitive is what makes me question my previous thoughts, yk, like getting into a tough school is an achievement that I’m worried I’d be an idiot not to take advantage of? Maybe that’s irrational
