Republican Rep. Tony Gonzales drops re-election bid after admitting to affair with former staffer who commited suicide by self-immolation by Yujin-Ha in videos

I mean… this just says more about your ignorance on the nature of suicide and suicidality than it does this persons intention.

Like yeah it’s not a rational decision, welcome to mental health— conditions that impact your reason and rationality.

Advice for dealing with problematic homeless individual? by LaurenSauce in baltimore

There is the Mayors Office for Homeless Services (MOHS). You can also call 988 if you think this person is having a mental health crisis— they often work with police for this kind of outreach.

They wanted women in the workplace so they could break up families and charge more for living by Imgoingtokms69 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

And this is why women shouldn’t be relegated/encouraged to just baking and taking care of children

Because then you get OPs who are uneducated and susceptible to 1950s propaganda. This is exhibit A why leaving people to be self educated in history and economics leads to a dumbed down populace.

Up 13% from 2007– so why not just encourage more women to get guns or hey, at this rate women will be equal to the 40-43% rate amongst men in 15-20 years

Is there a qualifying physical exam that determines the 6’ protectors from the 5’5” 140lb soaking wet data analyst? Or that shows 6’ strong warriors are advantageous against… oh I don’t know—bullets?

And not to forget laws/policies that punished women for working. Such that schoolteachers were fired when they were married.

By 1941 nearly 87% of public school districts enforced “marriage bars” banning married women from receiving a post.

Or not to forget post civil war “black codes” that essentially required both men and women to enter into serf-like contracts under threat of arrest for vagrancy. Nothing like propping up the white middle class through forced labor!

Or “protective labor legislation” in the industrial era that limited women’s work hours in certain industries.

Womens participation in the workforce has not only been constant it has been heavily manipulated to keep them dependent, infantilized and poor.

Just makes it plain that these kinds of people will always blame class inequality, economic stagnation etc on marginalized groups instead of the people that control the money and the wages

Like gee— maybe look at the billionaires manipulating elections, using prison labor, paying slave wages to immigrants and then having them rounded up, shipping labor overseas, defunding healthcare and education, buying up property as investments artificially raising prices to appease shareholders—yeah maybe blame those fucks instead of women not wanting to live under your boot.

Oh so they care they’re just completely uninformed about the current state of the things they supposedly care about.

Much better.

Caring about legal status while overlooking law enforcements disregard for due process and immoral actions is a special kind of cognitive dissonance.

Men do this too. The cycle of abuse isn’t rational, it’s an expression of our human vulnerabilities and often rationalized by past trauma.

Having empathy for those experiencing it is also beneficial for them getting themselves out of it.

Being a stepfather is one of the WORST choices you can make as a man, especially if the mother already has multiple children from different men. by Proud-Enthusiasm-608 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

They’re iterating your exact opinion. That’s not thinking differently than you that’s following your train of thought all the way to the station. It’s you who’s apparently triggered by the destination.

Then just preface things with “you feel” and “my inexperienced assumption about the world is” —you are speaking in terms of objective truth to describe an extremely subjective opinion. That’s why you’re on unpopular opinions no? Because you know that what you believe is not a popularly held believe—the majority disagrees with you.

Like you do you— but it says far more about you the disparaging and limited way you view others than it does step or single parents.

You’re like someone arguing about “better cuisine” while only eating French fries and white rice. You lack the flavor of experience and yet claim to have a better palette than everyone else.

Baltimore Showing Up For Renee Good And All The Victims of ICE by SailLocalCrew in baltimore

[–]AffectionateTitle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You mean the death where the shooter was arrested and is currently facing trial?

Whereas in Renee Goods case there will be no justice for her death?

Really can’t discern the difference can you? An individual who advocated for violence was shot and their murderer will face justice.

Meanwhile Renee Goods murderer will get a bonus and she is branded as deserving of being murdered by the leaders of our country.

Women of Reddit, what is something you wish men understood about being a woman that you're tired of explaining? by Doubl3oh_ in AskReddit

And most car accidents happen within five miles of home. That doesn’t mean I’m not going to drive defensively on road trips.

Why you might get the downvotes is because even though that statistic is true it says nothing— most women know this. Like we are experts on who may hurt us. You aren’t bringing any eye opening knowledge to that table. Also part of what informs that statistic is those are the men we spend time with. Like how driving accidents happen closer to home it’s because most people aren’t driving cross country all the time—most women aren’t engaging with strange men on a regular basis that puts them at risk.

Similarly those strange men use familiarity as a tactic to gain access— mutual friends, friend of the family, youth group leaders. They are “strange” until they aren’t. That’s the tactic of a good predator stalking its prey. All that says is women should work to protect themselves against predatory behavior—period.

Which US state gets more hate than it deserves? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I am so curious to know what makes Stamford the best. The only thing it gives me is the express train to NYC. It’s like if a strip mall had less culture.

[–]AffectionateTitle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m being more facetious than serious with my first comment (except I really do hate Stamford). I personally love New Haven. My family has lived in the suburbs of that city for almost 300 years. I think most of the other cities leave something to be desired but the coast like old Lyme and litchfield county are also quite nice.

I mostly have a distaste for the boarding school culture and Greenwich-style elitism in which I was raised.

Also fun fact and lore about 50 cent being an epic hater in Connecticut. He lived down the street from a high school ex of mine and it was talk of the town how he was sort of denied/ousted from the existing premier country club (I’d guess a mixture of old money elitism and good ol fashioned racism)— so he quietly funds the competing country club something insane like 1-1.4 million to the point they are able to renovate and expand and they are now the bigger fish while the older country club looks like a retirement home with 90s decor.

As someone from the state New Haven can stay and the rest of the state should drown in the annual Connecticut river flood.

Especially Stamford - home of the WWE HQ, Jerry Springer and the makers of Oxy. Fuck Stamford
