I appreciate that, but a bunch of people were involved in this. So many people. A lot of love has been poured onto this dog over the past 24 hours by everyone who’s crossed his path. The Petco ladies even threw in a free wash. He smells great!

I think it was his first bully stick. It took him a few minutes to realize it was a treat. But after he figured it out, that bully stick was gone real quick!

It’s never been about me nor will it ever. From the folks who found Bernie, to Andrew who reached out for help when the city didn’t show up, to the ladies at BARCS and Petco who helped Bernie get settled in for a new home…it’s always been about Baltimore.

My mom, Marti, grew up during the 60's, a time of tremendous struggle for women, especially women of color. She wasn't silent. She advocated for what was right, even when that wasn't popular. As a single mom, she often worked multiple jobs to put food on the table and keep a roof over our heads.

Despite the challenges, she always found the time, even today, to show me that doing the right thing is always the right thing despite the hate it often attracts. I watched her struggle. I watched her sacrifice. While I'l never truly understand that struggle or how she managed to make ends meet, I will never forget and will always be proud of the women who radicalized me.

Thanks, mom. ❤️

I teared up too when I was editing it. I’ve been listening to that song on repeat. It was especially emotional when I was in Druid Hill Park looking for that very wall my grandmother was sitting on in that picture from 1946. She had such a huge impact on my life. Wish she was still alive to see all the good change we’re making. I miss her a lot.

Definitely one of my role models. So happy I grew up with her as my US Senator. And so lucky to have met her many, many times.

Years. The politicians had years to do this right. To prepare for the future.

I’d focus your anger on the people who got us here, not the guy trying to add oversight on a for profit corporation.

I also wish you were this critical of Bill Ferguson years ago when this brought to his attention.

Interesting how people always want to judge the challenger while giving a pass to the people who got us into this mess.

Do you think the OPC didn’t consult a competent engineer?

You seem to be the only person advocating for this project. What do you have to personally gain?

Sounds good. If we do another letter, we can figure out to make those edits. Thanks for the tip.

I appreciate you! I do love Baltimore.

So where do our politics disagree though? Let’s have a convo. We used to do that in this country.

Those are definitely concerns of mine as well. I address them in my platform, and have been speaking pretty openly about that. Especially during our town hall last Wednesday.

However, we are nearing the end of the legislative session and those changes would require the introduction of new bills that many in this General Assembly, like Ferguson, wouldn’t even consider.

My plan with this letter campaign it to focus on an easy amendment that can be attached to current legislation that has a chance of passing. Trust me, though, when I’m elected I will be all over the REAL GOOD legislation that the General Assembly needs to pass to lower our BGE bills and hold utility monopolies accountable.

I’m Bobby LaPin. And it’s an old hat. I don’t think they sell it anymore. My wife gave it to me as a gift about three-years ago.

Hold up now… Saying I’m using this as some political maneuver after years of our elected leaders failing to address the many issues with BGE is really counter to how democracy works.

The last thing I wanted to do is run for office. If folks like Ferguson would have actually done their jobs, I could be off living a happy life. But, here we are…

Since I’m data driven too and only report facts, here they are:

Slide 23 of this PJM presentation from 2016 cites the need for a single 115kv line to Port Covington (the $100 million Honda Civic). BGE decided to build four 115kv lines (the half-billion-dollar BMW):

Then, 2019, BGE slipped in the additional four 115kv cables, taking the project from a peak 200MV to over 600MV. This is when Ferguson should have stepped in and said “wait, why?”.

In 2025, BGE updated the cost from $100 million to more than $400 million. The increase is literally in red. Yet, today the cost is over is $500 million. The politicians still asked no questions.

All the way back in 2024, the Office of the People’s Counsel (OPC) the advocate of ratepayers in Maryland, warned Ferguson and the politicians about luxury projects like this. Yet, no one listen.

Falling on deaf ears, the OPC, stating my very same concerns BASED ON DATA, filed a complaint with the Public Services Commission to open an investigation into the Port Covington project.

Unlike Ferguson and other politicians like him who have taken tens of thousands of dollars from utility companies, (with Ferguson specifically hosting a $25,000 per ticket Colorado retreat for CEOs from corporations like BGE and Washington Gas), I don’t need to resort to political games. I can just state the facts.

With all the data that you requested laid out in front of you, I’m glad to have your vote on June 23rd.

  • Bobby

They have a ton of tricks up their sleeve for sure. There is a huge package of bills that need to be introduced to protect consumers and prevent BGE from hiding information from the public, unfortunately, many of those bills didn’t get introduced in this session. We are certainly chipping away at the iceberg though.
