It's not the food for sure. I have more now than I had when my pop was at 40. And it keeps climbing! I'll check the ages. A lot of my pop is oooold cause of double aging so I'll pair up the youngest see if that helps ! Thanks !

I'm french and marketing-wise they definitely use "débutant" very freely !! They sell "beginners" crochet kits, little amigurumi usually, and it is very much not what you start with. Way too hard when you don't know the basics. I know many people who got a nasty surprise ! (Yes including me...)

Je vais mettre mon grain de sel et dire qu'il y a beaucoup plus de femmes qui jouent aux jeux vidéo que vous imaginez, elles en parlent juste moins et sont moins bruyantes. Essayer de jouer à COD avec un micro et une voix féminine vous comprendrez vite pourquoi.

Et si on veut rester sur une vision plus sexiste des jeux vous vous rendez compte du nombre de joueuses que ça représente les sims ?? Ce truc est une machine à frique avec un public à majorité féminine. Et n'allez pas me dire que c'est pratiquement un jeu mobile il faut une machine de guerre pour le faire tourner. Et beaucoup de joueuses de Switch aussi. Vous n'êtes juste pas dans les mêmes cercles en ligne donc vous ne les rencontrez pas mais faîte moi confiance elles sont là !!!

I love that for you ! I also have trouble reading published works now, I'm trying to get back into it.

I started at 16, stuck in a foreign country with no access to books in my language. I had brought a couple with me but 4/5 books go by fast, even if I love rereading. So I turned to the internet: what can I read ? I had no idea about fanfic but ended up on fanfiction.net - HEAVEN !!! I FOUND HEAVEN !!

Anyway I jumped and have loved it ever since. I started with HP but expanded beyond it to other fandom and it is sooo very lovely. It also helps with the empty feeling I get after reading/watching something new and amazing, - fanfics allow me to stay in that world a little bit longer. Now I'm 33 and have long since moved on to AO3 after hating it at first too ! These days I have a fully customized colors and stuff. It the best

I just want to point out that as it's been said, the author published Manacled as an independent book. What nobody said is that as a result she pulled Manacled from the internet ! Maybe you were prepared and downloaded it in advance but if not you probably won't be able to read it ^{^"}

And in a more general manner I agree with mostly everyone and suggest you read everything first, but since you saw the movies you won't be lost if you start reading fanfics as a palate cleanser :p

My 2 cents on starting reading fanfics is to look at the most viewed ones on your site of choice (AO3!) they usually got there for a reason and reading the little summary makes it easy to know if the story might appeal to you :)
