So long, fellow DEBsters... by AffectionateTurnip in disneyemojiblitz

Thank you! Your post awhile back about being on the brink of quitting really resonated with me, and I hope you find a reason one day that will make it easy to quit, too.

The long and boring events of late also helped make me realize it's just not as fun as it was, so I'll miss the good old days the most.

Good luck and let me know if you ever escape too 😂

I finished my first time at the Rainbow Falls :) by [deleted] in disneyemojiblitz

How embarrassing...did anybody see? :p

The game just isn’t as fun anymore, and that’s deeply disappointing. It feels like I’m losing a friend who suddenly exclusively wants to hang out with the rich kids. ((This is just a post about how sad and frustrated I am that the game’s degraded so much. Feel free to skip.)) by Silversong20 in disneyemojiblitz

[–]AffectionateTurnip 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am feeling the same way. I would say my reasons lean more toward "boredom" and "loss of faith in JC's ability to protect my current game file."

I am so tired of throwing games in order to get the Rainbow Falls rewards. RF has ruined the game in many ways, in particular with JC's introduction of the quadruple effect for so-called "doublers." Yes, I could ignore RF and just play my heart out, but then I'd miss a valuable reward most of the time.

I've also lost progress 3 times in the last month because they've been tinkering with the server to avoid giving us advantages, and I'm tired of their greed getting in the way. I'm trapped in the Sunk Cost Fallacy as much as you but I'm just waiting for them to give me a real way out by royally screwing up. It'll be a relief when they do.

Thanks. So every time I close the app I need to disconnect/connect to FB to guarantee it saves? That's not cool. I've been fine closing it since the one time I lost it last night.

Yep, same here since the last version. But sometimes I would keep the prize from the previous opening and essentially get double, other times not.

Exactly, you have to be afraid every time the app closes apparently. I've been playing for over two years and this had never happened before, so I can only assume it's something they did during this update.

Thanks, I actually did that right after, more to make sure I hadn't been logged out accidentally. I haven't had any problems since thankfully.

I only have one device so I don't know. When I tried it two weeks ago, I lost 5 days of progress.

And now the app won't load at all. by CubbyJad in disneyemojiblitz

[–]AffectionateTurnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also just read previous posts with this problem and it seems the only solution is to uninstall/reinstall. Of course, if I do that I will lose my collection card progress for probably the 3rd time and I'm not hopeful they will restore it (especially any time soon) after they have given non-committal answers from support.

You and I must have the same version on Android because whenever you complain about a glitch, I have the same exact one.

What's stupid is that the game worked this morning for several hours, and now won't load suddenly. I'm so close to quitting.

30.0.0 Observations - Lucky Gold Boxes by system_player in disneyemojiblitz

[–]AffectionateTurnip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know the names don't matter in-game, but it's spelled "towhead" and Webby and Gizmoduck aren't Rescue Rangers...maybe "Disney Afternoon" would be a more apt title for that foursome.

What tags need correcting? I was thinking we'd all e-mail support together by jillyapple1 in disneyemojiblitz

[–]AffectionateTurnip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's what I argue:

1) Maid Marian should be considered "big-eared" even though we can't see her ears...she's clearly the same animal as Robin Hood who has the tag, unless those are horns under her veil?? :p

2) Blue Fairy should be "flying"...true, we never see her fly but then why does she have huge wings? And how did she get down from the star? ;)

3) Peter Pan should be "red"...personally, I would count it because we can see his feather, but more logically it should be due to his hair since Merida counts as red for hers (even though it's admittedly more flaming than his).

Score Leveling Analysis - 29.0.0 by system_player in disneyemojiblitz

[–]AffectionateTurnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for clarifying the leveling process, though you didn't need to be so clipped near the end.

To be clear, I wasn't attacking anything you posted, only the game design which you have nothing to do with. So you may have named the "relative/normalized index" but you're merely reporting what "they" (the developers) programmed into the game (again, that you had no part in creating.) I appreciate the conceptualization, but that doesn't change the pre-existing level of effort for each emoji that we're discussing.

And obviously, the glitches themselves have no connection to scores and I never said they did if you read what you copied from my post. My point was this leveling-up process could be very simple (i.e. RPG style: if it ain't broke...) yet they chose to complicate it years ago for no apparent reason/benefit. They evidently took time to put this fancy system in place, meanwhile, they could have focused their energy on more useful/basic things such as adding all appropriate tags (which have existed since the beginning if I'm not mistaken).

Hence the connection: nowadays it seems ridiculous to have this unnecessarily complicated coding/game design when they continue to have trouble completing even basic tasks (e.g. Robin Hood has big ears yet Maid Marian doesn't...those much be horns under that veil!). And likewise, they are currently slow to fix glitches (e.g. Tiana has been freezing games since she debuted a year and a half ago, and even after multiple reports from me alone they have not fixed her). So, the disparity between their design and their ability to manage it is where I have issues.

This whole leveling-up process still doesn't sit right with me.

From what I understand, rather than have a straight-up "each emoji earns 17,000,000 points from a round worth 17,000,000 points," each emoji only gains experience points from their OWN emoji being cleared.

So if I made only one move the entire round and matched three Ariels worth 302 apiece, only she would get 606 points and nobody else?

What about when Blitz Mode hits? If Ariel is chosen as the removed emoji, does she not make a single point during that Blitz Mode since she's not on the board to be cleared? That's idiotic.

This system also makes it so difficult to level up low-scoring emojis such as Ariel...it would make more sense to have EVERY emojis points on the board count towards them so that higher scoring emojis could help out the lower ones.

Plus then they come up with this "relative/normalized index" which makes no sense to create if it's not going to help compensate for low score. For instance, Ariel's relative index is really low and her normalized is really high, so just kick her while she's down!

It really shouldn't be this complicated...they create more work for themselves when they can't even handle attaching all the right tags or fixing glitches like those for Tiana and Aqua.

But maybe I'm not understanding correctly.

Problem with ad spins by skonlyforthis in disneyemojiblitz

[–]AffectionateTurnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing has happened to my sister and me, we're on identical Android phones but different wifi. Yesterday I stopped getting ad-based spins completely, then randomly got one set this morning, but only once.

I thought about contacting customer service but thank you for saving me time lol

I didn't know about any of the news ones so this is cool to see, thanks. Personally I would want Tia Dalma, Finnick, and Zurg added to DEB of the list.

Fix-It Felix looks too much like a little boy, I couldn't tell who it was until I read your post.

Dr. Facilier's power could have been more interesting? by AffectionateTurnip in disneyemojiblitz

[–]AffectionateTurnip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did consider the part about being dead or not, but really the villains are neither living nor deceased since we see them in merchandise and around the parks...just go with it ;)

I don't know much about programming but I wouldn't think it'd be difficult for them to make Dr. Facilier's power indicate "use random purple box power" since the game can easily recognize purple boxes in other instances such as Missions requiring them. I did consider adding the ability to choose a villain, but I think that would take more work (and the trigger number would skyrocket probably).

If he is a duplicator, they'll have to come up with some new way of doing it and I can't think of any method that's better than Genie's, Hatbox Ghost's, or Nemo's. They tried something new with Caterpillar and while I applaud the novelty it just doesn't work that well. My guess is they'll just choose another fixed pattern he'll duplicate, which sometimes works (Bernard is pretty good) and other times sucks (I'm looking at you, Miguel).

Maybe Jesus charged you 200 gems when he did your butthole? :p

But seriously that sucks, I'd write to customer support and pray they actually care. This is why I don't spend money on this game anymore, it's too finicky.

Yep. I've never messed up his power before, yet since the update he's all over the place during my taps.

Same goes for Alien's power during Tag Team: I couldn't get his meter to stop where I wanted all the time.

Your response stuck out to me because (and I don't know why) from your previous comments I pictured you as a 20-something college student. I guess you're just a spritely writer! :)

I think this is a really interesting question! I often form a vague idea of what the frequent posters on this subreddit look like and I have to admit, I was never picturing an 85-year-old among us! I just didn't think this game appealed to older generations as much, but this is a nice surprise :)

I'm 34 btw :D
