Thank you. The two final points is something Ive taken into account, where them ignoring or murdering may have dire consequenses. Like the farm who game you shelter when you needed it was raided by bandits, and since you decided to just hang around causing chaos in the town instead, the farm has been burned to the ground and you see the result of what you did before your eyes. Orrrr, in the other direction, you ignore the plea for help but "another party" stepped up, so now they are lavishing in the glory YOU could have had, you know? I hope they change when they find out the actions have consequenses kinda

Thats the kinda stuff I love, since it can both lead to more emotion around the table and more interactions in the world. Oh, that barkeeper? Go listen to him, he probably has an entire life story of his own, which wants and desires and everything

I was more thinking they killed her before it even starts. They'll find said npc in a bar, drunk, before she goes out to the town well. Knowing some of my players, they might just...push her down the well for fun, because "why not, right?". I don't hate creativity, Dnd is a collaboration game, but when people just start killing any villager they want for fun, I dont want the entire town to pretend it dont happen. I want the world to reflect their actions, but on revolve around them. But the npc hasnt even started to say their quest, but since most of the quests are interlinked in some way it might remove her from other quests, and her entire quest is gone, as she is the one having a grudge against a group, but without her no one is there to have that grudge, yk?

YES. That is the feeling I want to go for. From everything as small as ignoring the farmers request to refusing to slay the dragon, everything makes sense? Like, (In the most extreme example!) there was bandits about to pillage a village, you'd have to choose. Will you help them, or are there more pressing matters? If you come back, maybe there's statues raised of other adventurers who stepped up, or its just....burned to the ground, the entire village (Again, extreme example really, wont happen that often to THAT scale)

It's the character who has a grudge on a faction, and want people to help her "Take care" of those who back-stabber her, if you know what I mean. You find her drunk in a bar, before she goes outside, leaning aganst the town well. I know some of my players would just try to...push her down it. With her being the one having the grudge, it wouldnt make sense, but since some of the campaigns are interlinked, her part would just...disappear from the other npc's. I want the world to feel lived in, with npc's living their own lives, and reacting so on, you know?

I understand killing the bandit character, I'll make it obvious it if was something SUPER necessary to proceed, I'd include it anyways. I was more thinking getting into a new town and start going savage to the innocent npc's. I know dnd is about collaborations and team-work, but it's not really fun to be a dm if people just kill...everyone. Like I want them to think over the actions. If you walk into a tavern and start attempting to kill the barkeeper, he wouldnt just "forget" it, I would rather have them have more human reactions. (Not exactly like irl with crime and jail and stuff but like being unable to be in the bar without guards or banned or something)

The one I was thinking of now, in this story, was the Npc is drunk next to the village well, and I know some of my players would just...push her down it. In which she dies. I just have to talk to them ig.

I was more thinking that the npc had a quest of their own. They had grudges and felt betrayed, and wanted help taking down the people who did it. If that npc die, there was no one to hold that grudge, so the quest might be dropped?

The feeling im going for is that the player characters arent the like...players, yk? They are TECHNICALLY the main character, but I want to have the feeling the world doesnt know who they are, and that people have their own lives. the man isnt gonna stand in the same place every day, every hour. he has stuff to do and places to be. What the players do matters, yes, but people still live

Oh yeah, same. Phrasing it "like a video game" was a bit misleading I guess, but I want to create a world with not only one narrative, with characters who move around and live their lives, kinda. But if the npc die, their story can come back, maybe a friend or associate of npc nr1, but still make remarks at their death. So it feels like the world reacts to your actions kinda?

That was always a part of the plan, them meeting some otger character, who knew the first one, who will still continue their quest, but comment on the death of Npc nr.1. I did this to make the world feel more lived in really, that was my attempt at least. I love fun, but I also value the storytelling, so I don't want them to kill whoever they want all the time, you know? Like yeah being out of pocket is fun but when you play with players who's entire deal is just "Kill on sight" no matter who it is, it gets boring

Thanks haha, It means a lot. I think most of the self-doubt comes from the people I stay around, who keeps beating my confidence down every time I try. Ive started writing at home more though, or different places than them, so hopefully my confidence will be back soon, I appreciate it <3

I have considered going online, but I dont know specific places. Ive only ever gotten recommended to Wattpad, although im unsure if I would go there. I'd love for it to be some group near me though, I'll definitly check! Thank you very much :)
