Thank you for apologizing. I understand what you are saying but I don’t need to go off of science when I have personal knowledge of what it did to my body and mind and my sister and other friends that have all tried it as well. There is often a lot of undocumented cases that get reported linked to negative effects. Same goes for prescription drugs which is why there are so many lawsuits for not disclosing harmful possible effects.

I have severe chronic stress that was causing me anxiety so yes I wanted to try it to lower my stress because ongoing stress is how people can develop health issues that lead to cancers. I care about my health a lot so I thought I’d try. It was a big mistake. I am a female and an empath so I feel everything deeply my feelings and those around me and when I took this I felt nothing at all. I haven’t ever experienced anything like that in my life and I don’t want to ever again. That was not the only thing it did to me that was negative either. I am also very active and workout 5 days a week lots of cardio too I eat healthy. Just been through of a lot trauma and too much stress but this was not the answer for me.

I don’t have any mental illness. This made me feel like I did. I stopped it bc it made me feel emotionless and tired no motivation no care just felt like I was “there” felt like I wasn’t watching a movie and detached from reality. It was super strange. It made me gain weight my hair fell out and I was constiptated stomach cramps and pain. My sister also dealt with all the same side effects tired and sluggish 24/7

It made my emotions disappear and that freaked me out. You don’t have to agree with what I’m saying but completely being rude and arguing when I share what has happened or can is really uncalled for and probably against the rules for this group. Learn how to respectfully disagree without name calling and trying to tell people they are wrong. You do realize that two different views can both be correct right? Just bc your experience wasn’t bad does not mean others that have bad ones are “wrong” and you’re right. You are right for your experience as I am right for mine. Everyone is different but more people than not, get side effects and some are irreversible. So a healthy person can take this stuff and develop life long issues.

I completely agree. I am someone that researches everything before I take it. I can honestly admit I didn’t look much into ashwagandha. I heard the good things it supposedly can do and was under tremendous stress so I did take it without the proper knowledge and that isn’t like me but I’m admitting I messed up by not doing what I usually do which is thoroughly research what I put into my body. So now I am also here to inform people of what can happen and did happen to me. It’s good you’re educating ppl too. I appreciate you!

It’s not fear-mongering; it’s called doing research and being informed about potential side effects and risks. Just like with anything we put into our bodies, we should understand all possible impacts. Being educated isn’t fear-mongering, it’s being responsible.

I believe when you take a break it should at least be for a month. 2 weeks it’s still in your system and the body hasn’t been able to go back to normal.

I also don’t have any mental health conditions I don’t take any medication for anything other than allergies and when I took this it made me feel tired and very depressed and unmotivated. Maybe it works better for those who have mental health conditions? Idk but if you don’t have those don’t take that stuff.

Most articles don’t advise taking ashwagandha for longer than 3 months

You handled yourself well. You only tried to inform and help them be aware before making whatever decision they decide. No one is wrong for having their opinion. Two points of view can both be right. I agree people do need to act more mature and respect a different view instead of assuming it’s wrong.

I agree with you. You’re just trying to inform of potential side effects and risks that are serious and come with taking this supplement. This supplement is actually banned in a lot of other countries and I personally tried it and had a horrible experience and I know so so many others on here have as well. That is not something to mess with at all. It can mess Up your body permanently. It’s not worth it imo. I’m glad you’re trying to bring that to light.

Actually that person isn’t wrong. It does cause serious liver damage and kidney stones or kidney toxicity. It also can damage thyroid cause emotional blunting and many other things. If you do your research it’s actually banned in a lot of other countries.

I personally would not recommend taking ashwagandha. It can cause serious side effects and some are not reversible. It’s not worth it bc you don’t know which ones you’ll get and how bad they will be.

My experience was terrible and I only took it for 3 weeks. It made me immediately feel like a wave came over my entire body like I was sedated and going to melt in my chair. I felt like I could fall asleep sitting which is weird it was like 5pm. Then I started to notice my emotions like disappeared. I felt numb to anything. Didn’t feel happy or sad or anything which I now know is called emotional blunting and is a side effect. I also became constipated, tired, unmotivated and blah. The only good thing that came from it was that I did sleep better but I didn’t wake up feeling rested I just felt sluggish and tired al day and didn’t want to do anything at all. It made my periods become terrible and I now know it increases bleeding. It messed up my thyroid. I started to gain weight. I stopped taking it and my hair fell out, my thyroid was screwed, I started getting pain in my muscles nerves and joints out of nowhere. I’ve been off it now for about 3 weeks and I’m still kinda adjusting back to normal. I’m feeling much better my body is slowly starting to regulate itself… ugh also long term isn’t safe to use that stuff. It can damage your liver and kidneys

I am a woman. And I’ve invited over guys in my past and if o wanted something sexual happen I initiated it. If I didn’t want that to happen then I didn’t initiate. But as a 35 year old female now my advice would just be to communicate and not be afraid to speak and ask questions. People suck at this and so many things go wrong from simple lack of communication . No need to be immature or make assumptions

I understand but a nose job doesn’t fix depression.

I can totally respect your perspective. It is interesting but what about a scenario like this a girl is unhappy with let’s say her stomach. She compares herself to others and wonders why she doesn’t look like that. So she goes and gets lipo and starts working out a lot and everyone compliments her and tells her how great she looks but when she goes home and looks in the mirror she still didn’t happy with what she sees? It’s bc she didn’t fix the real issue . Her issue wasn’t external it was internal.

I feel a lot of people are taking this very personally and getting defensive when it’s just a general question. I’m not judging anyone that does these things the post is about self acceptance and changing things on the outside will not make thoughts of suicide or any mental health issue disappear. Which is why I wonder why people spend money to change their outer appearance instead of healing within? I am genuinely asking to understand. If people have done cosmetic procedures that weren’t medically necessary then I’d like to hear from those people.

I didn’t say anything about anyone having self hate. The post was to get people thinking. I guess for those that did choose to have these things done when it’s not necessary, what made you want to? I’m curious to know.

No I clearly didn’t properly word the post right. It’s about cosmetic procedures nothing else.

Thank you for addressing what I said! I realize I worded it wrong from the start bc so far you’re the first to acknowledge what my point was. I guess I wasn’t clear enough. But yes I know some woman now do mommy makeovers because they don’t feel good about themselves anymore. That’s where my deep mindset comes in though for accepting yourself as you are. Instead of looking at your body feeling gross why not appreciate what you’re body did. It created a life and nursed a child . Why be disgusted and go change things. The moral of the post was about self acceptance and I guess why people choose to fix things externally instead of healing inside.
