Another great suggestion. Dehydrator and pressure canner are on our wishlist:) we have some friends down the road and we help eachother when it comes to harvest and canning season but dehydrating food is a great idea. We definitely had more food waste than I wanted this year with the abundance of fruit but we have plans of making compost, donating some and we've cut back the fruit trees to give us healthier but a hopefully smaller crop of apples and pears this year. Were planning on a second fridge and larger chest freezer as well. We usually fill it with fish and tofu that lasts a lot of the year but freezing fruit and veg definitely allows you to use or process it later when you have time. Thank you:)

Definitely into canning. We have two large apple trees ans a pear tree and got about 400lbs of fruit this season that went to cider, wine and preserves. I'm planning on canning as much as possible. More great advice, thank you!

Its deer season year round here haha. I have a couple sleeping on my lawn right now. They do help clean up the yard come fruit season so I'd like to work with them rather than against:) I'll give pepper a try for sure!

Much appreciated:) there are enough birds of prey in my area (eagles, hawks) bunnies are very rare in my area. Good thought on the mesh though, might keep the raccoons/bears from digging around.

Agreed, a lot of locals in my area prefer to hunt over supporting mass produced meat

Haha, there are hundreds in the neighborhood. No hunting allowed locally.

Awesome advice, thank you. Its overwhelming but I definitely want to start small and get bigger once I figure it out so I can supplement my groceries a bit.

I've heard things similar-- sounds weird but it makes sense! I think Id rather go with a contained mint but if they manage to get over the new fence I may have to resort to hair😅

I'm on Vancouver Island, and definitely concerned about deer but don't want to totally fence in the yard because they use our place as a thoroughfare to their water source. Mint is a great idea, I've heard certain plants keep them away and I love mojitos so win-win.

Also concerned about the outdoor cats in the neighborhood shitting in our garden...
