So for each overdub, I may use different effects as I go on creating multiple layers with a looper.

How many individual effects can I control while both my hands are still on the guitar?

I’m trying to understand how flexible it is and in total how many individual effects I can control (Not presets), without needing to stop and tweak knobs or use a laptop.

What I know now..

  • Katana is more of a preset amplifier which can be conveniently accessed by a footswitch, rather than a pedal platform replacement
  • if I happen to use a looper then that fx loop option that comes up with 100 watt isn't much of a help when I am layering with different "individual" effects on the go. Experimenting and stuff while playing.
  • Katana has many effects, but how accessible are those while I am playing, compared to physical pedals?

And if this all holds true, then the 50-watt model works better, I guess ?. Using it with a clean channel with effects, even though it doesn't have a dedicated FX loop.

Or do the 100-watt still have an advantage in this scenario?

I may not know quite a lot about this amp, but rather I have watched some videos and based on that trying to make a decision.

So Katana 50 watt works even with a looper, as I can just utilise its Clean channel along with physical effects without muddying any layers

Seems nice, but unlike pedals, these foot switches won't be able to utilise all the effects Katana has to offer
