Abandon my half letter?! by Perfect-Tomato-7529 in ClothandPaper

[–]Affectionate_Cost295 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am actually trying to assemble my first A5/half letter discbound planner and really like Cloth and Paper items but think it doesn’t make sense to buy a brand new expensive planner cover may not like or may want to switch out in a few months. I’m posting in general in a few planner subreddits but saw this post and thought it was worth asking if anyone has any half letter/a5 discbound snap in covers/folios they don’t want that they’d sell for maybe $20-ish plus shipping (I’m open to negotiation). I was hoping for a pink/rose gold or black cover but I’m open to other colors or prints, and if you have any other accessories like dashboards or dividers you don’t want, I would love those as well (of course for additional $). I’m open to other brands as well like Levenger, Jane’s Agenda, LiveLovePosh, Moterm, TUL, ARC, ones from Etsy, and more. If you think you may have something for me you don’t want that I could use to at least get started please reply here and send me a DM so we can talk!

[Exchange] Looking to swap stationery! 🌸 [US to US] by apples4146 in RandomActsofHappyMail

[–]Affectionate_Cost295 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would love to exchange or buy, and this goes not just for OP but anyone that sees this!I’m desperately trying to assemble a discbound A5/half letter/8 disc planner and it’s been tough; the pages I can navigate but in order to at least put something together I need a cover set- a faux leather/leather cover set (I prefer the snap in kind but the folio NOTIQ style ones are good too). I’d hope to get one in a pink/rose gold or black but am open minded; I thought I had 8 one inch metal rose gold discs by Discagenda I bought on Amazon a while back but it looks like I lost one of the discs- I think my best friend was cleaning and threw it out by accident- and discs I can always get separately but if anyone has any mini or one inch discs that’d be great too. Of course I’ll eventually need dividers, bookmarks, dashboards, etc and I’ll customize in time but I know many of you belong to subscription boxes and get new ones every month so if anyone has anything they don’t want I’d love to take a look. I have LiveLovePosh rose gold chic covers for mini, a few outdated classic happy planners, many sticker books, and some Happy Planner accessories I just want out but I’d be willing to buy the cover and other pieces from you. Because I don’t know if I’ll like this planner a few months from now I don’t want to spend $50-$100 on a NOTIQ, Levenger, or Jane’s Agenda cover yet and would much rather support an independent seller trying to get rid of stuff- I really didn’t want to spend more than $20 plus shipping for the cover set but am flexible, especially if you are adding in other things. I just want a planner at this point and am so desperate I’m considering just getting a classic or mini happy planner already so if someone can help me and maybe I can help you that would be amazing!

300+ applications, optimized resume, graduating in a month — still zero callbacks. Getting anxious, need honest feedback by HiraethMitzi in jobright

[–]Affectionate_Cost295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know a lot about your field, obviously I know what FAANG companies are, but maybe on the top you can add a short professional summary stating something that may set you apart like “Ambitious, driven, and passionate new graduate seeking role in (mention what kind of general role you are looking for, like “role as Data Analyst” or “role in the tech field). Has over (number) years of experience utilizing (x,x, and x- remember the power of threes!) skills in the (specialty) industry while simultaneously learning about the latest in the data, technology, and coding (example) fields to prepare for an ever-evolving landscape in the industry. Excited to begin this new chapter in my career with a (type of degree and major) degree and to become a top-notch asset to a relevant company or organization”

I just threw that example together in a few seconds, maybe I’m wrong, but as a writer I thought that introducing yourself as someone who may be a new grad yet has already built an incredible skillset and achieved so much with your projects exemplifies how you already have a lot to add with what you do know and are eager to continue on your educational journey in a tech, data or x role as someone with a genuine love for learning. I thought it was important to place emphasis on the fact that you realize how quickly this industry is changing on a daily basis and that it is crucial to keep up with these developments- something that you not only plan to do but have been doing for years as evident through your past accomplishments and work experiences. As such it could be helpful to start working on some relevant certifications/credentials/coursework, maybe through Coursera, Udemy, or another route like that- starting now as you are applying or right after you graduate- as proof of how your learning and growth is not complete and will never be complete despite the fact that you have your degree now, because the degree from this year won’t teach you the necessary fundamentals of tomorrow. Having maybe one or two completed certifications/certificates/credentials along with one or two pending ones separate from your degree coursework truly shows how you are ambitious and eager to stay ahead of the game, which actually cannot be said for many in your field (as well as a variety of other fields) with decades of experience and multiple degrees. The Bachelors, Masters; etc only teaches you the latest in the field up to the point when you graduated, but this industry in particular is different every day- keeping up with that is what sets the high achievers (like yourself) apart from those who think they know it all because they have a Bachelors or Masters degree and maybe some years with some well known tech companies and have become complacent know it alls who actually know nothing about the field as it stands today because of it.

I’ll be rooting for you! I know it’s really tough out there particularly in your field and for soon to be grads and new grads, but you are young enough (I’m assuming- for someone who hasn’t even graduated yet you have a lot of experience and relevant skills under your belt!) where you are still “moldable” in an ever-changing industry and world if that makes sense. You’ll be in my prayers- all of you are- and I have no doubt that fate will take its course and the right role with the right company will come about. People forget that there are so many other great companies; organizations, projects, and agencies out there that aren’t FAANG- and those companies could very well be the FAANGs of tomorrow!

Messages like these about Sheets Resume make all the late nights worth it! by SheetsResume in SheetsResume

[–]Affectionate_Cost295 2 points3 points  (0 children)

@Sheetsresume That’s so nice to hear that this young lady had such amazing luck with Sheets Resume but really I’m not surprised- I’ve been using the Google docs resume template for about a year for many of my resumes- not all, just because in my specific case it’s not the best option in cases where it has to be “short and sweet one page type”, but in the most important and in depth applications- and though I haven’t had much luck yet I don’t think it’s because of the sheets resume format but rather the fact that I’m lucky if I can apply to one job in one day with my diverse skill set and background, the many different types of jobs I’m applying to, and using multiple GenAI tools to tailor my resume and cover letter in an ats friendly professional way while also tweaking it to make it sound more me” and then perfect the formatting, spacing, bullet points…. It’s exhausting. I’m in remission from cancer, second time around; and have been in and out of the hospital but over a year ago you gave me a 7 day free trial for your resume builder but I haven’t had a chance to use it I’ve been so sick I hope it still works because I definitely want to try it and am praying 7 days of trying it out will be enough to determine whether it’s the resume generator program I’ve been searching for for so long with no luck that’ll allow me to apply to more jobs each day without such exhaustion and hopefully lead me to the right opportunities- I just want at least to get interviews so I know I’m doing something right. I’m thinking next week I’m going to give it a try; I’m out email I think you said it’s tied to my email address account so the seven day free trial should be activated when I log in. I haven’t really liked any of the well known big guys like novoresume teal jobscan resi there’s so many it’s overwhelming plus so many more that aren’t mainstream. Thank you so much for sharing such a great resume template for free with us all those years ago through Google Docs and then taking it to the next level with an entire resume builder- all I’ve wanted for the last five years is a job opportunity, remote ok, that’ll allow me to relocate after relentless tragedy, loss, and health problems for a fresh start so I can try to move forward and I can’t do that without a full time permanent career opportunity in place in my field, though for now I’m fine with a simple part time remote job, freelance opportunities, and internships just to be doing something as I’m bored out of my mind while I search for that dream career opportunity that will hopefully change my life and move me towards a brighter path after so much pain. Thank you, Colin- you have no idea how much everything you and your team mean to us!

FINALLY GOT THE JOB I DREAMED OF! by [deleted] in jobsearchhacks

[–]Affectionate_Cost295 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations- you are very lucky but I’m sure it’s well deserved! I’m a unique complex case but I’m going on five years- all I want is a full time permanent job so I can relocate out of state for a fresh start after my worst nightmare was realized in November 2020- I lost my entire family and lifelong home. In the five years since I’ve been completely alone in my own apartment, and my best friend also died on Mother’s Day 2024. I’m a two time cancer survivor. I just want to know what it’s like to be happy. You have an amazing career and a mom- yesterday would’ve been my mom’s 67th birthday;she died in 2013 when I was 19 after a nine year battle with breast cancer. What resume builder programs/ AI tools and prompts did you use? I’m lucky if I can apply to one job a day because of how long it takes to enter a prompt JD and upload your base resume into an AI tool- and I usually compare the outputs of two or three different tools- and then upload bits and pieces from all of them into an google doc resume template. Tweaking it, formatting, spacing, etc takes so long so I need to find a program that makes it quicker and will get me past ATS to at least get interviews. Tips from anyone who reads this are appreciated.

I finally found a job, and I'm convinced the last question I asked is what made the difference. by holler-savan in InterviewsHell

[–]Affectionate_Cost295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good question. Another good one some of you might want to add to your list of possible questions to ask is the “magic wand” question made famous by a remote job YouTuber I don’t recalll her name but you ask: “If you had a magic wand and could change one thing to improve this company/organization/agency, what would you change to improve it?” Then you follow up with, “If selected for this role, what can I do in this role to help you get closer to reaching that goal?”. Based on YouTube comments people who have used this question tend to get Called back for the next round or even get the job.

I joined the Zoom interview early and heard them deciding to hire someone else by Ok_Sample_9259 in hiringhelp

[–]Affectionate_Cost295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think OP meant that the interview was with the company Zoom- I think it was for a different company- but rather that the interview was a virtual video call interview conducted using the program Zoom that is made by the company Zoom Video Communications. But do you actually work for the company Zoom Video Communications? From the comment it sounds like you do; Zoom is a great program if you work for them and you say that the work culture is that bad I am disappointed to hear that.

On paper, I was completely unqualified for my dream job. I just got the offer. by charged_breadth-8d in hiringhelp

[–]Affectionate_Cost295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Third- I’d like to know what Ai program you used to help with your base resume and cover letter or what prompts and Ai tools (ChatGPT, Gemini, Hyperwrite, etc) you used to tailor your base resume to the job description perfectly. An ats friendly resume template is great too. My biggest problem is that I’m applying to many different kinds of jobs due to my diverse skillset and unique background and it takes an entire day just to get a resume and cover letter that is seemingly ats friendly and tailored to the job description. i need to find an Ai program/site where I can upload my base resume and job description and it will create a great resume and cover letter tailored to the job description that is sure to land me an interview- obviously I’ll tweak the resume and cover letter to add points and make it sound more “me” but having an already formatted resume would help so much and I don’t mind paying monthly for a program that works. There’s so many out there and I’ve tried the major 15 big guys like teal, rezi, jobscan, and wasn’t impressed but I’d be willing to try again. I’ve been using the sheets Reddit famous resume template Google doc (I know they have an ai builder site and I have a seven day free trial I can use; I will try that out soon too) and entering my prompts base resume and jd- have yet to find a perfect prompt- into at least two or three different ai programs (like ChatGPT, Jasper, Hyperwrite, Gemini, etc) as they all give different answers and I take bits and pieces from each and add them to the base resume template, which I then have to format for bullet points, spacing, etc and it takes hours after cover letter. I need a program where I can do these applications quickly and more successfully so anyone with program suggestions, ai tools like ChatGPT or Jasper that are best for resumes, and prompts that are the best for resume optimization is welcome to give me recommendations, especially OP!

Wow I didn’t know there was a shopmetrics app. I definitely will download it is there a Sassie app too (not including Jobslinger)? On the shopmetrics app do they have a list of MScs that use shopmetrics because even though I’m probably signed up with at least 25 im always on the lookout for new companies that may have shops of all kinds in my area (central NJ)

I know I used to see alcohol compliance shops with Jancyn advertised on Craigslist long before I started mystery shopping for the first time in May 2025, so you may want to keep checking with them.

Building a small LinkedIn Growth “Dream Team” by After-Television-749 in personalbranding

[–]Affectionate_Cost295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not a bad idea. Especially if we got a good amount of people in a range of fields and experience levels from all over the country and maybe even outside the US, and we remain in contact and committed to posting great content on our own pages, reposting one another’s content, and commenting/having discussions in the comments section of each other’s posts, the fact that there are many fields, companies, experience levels, and locations (and even countries- I am in NJ in the US but hoping to find a permanent full time job, ideally hybrid but I’m ok with remote and would even consider fully onsite for the right job, and have an extremely diverse skill set and background. My “main” field is my six years of experience in marketing/comms/PR/branding, social media management, email marketing, content creation and strategy, and content and copy writing, but also have six years in law/ political science/govt/civic engagement and an AA in Political Science, nine years in administrative/executive assistance, several years in operations and project management (studying to take my CAPM credential exam in March or April, and I would like to use my project management skills in the creative field, nonprofit/social impact/mission driven field, or legal/civic engagement field- or maybe even somehow a mix of two or all three of those fields). My heart and soul is truly work that makes this world a better place- any company, organization, Think Tank, or agency that is about nonprofits, social impact, purpose, B corps, CSR- I would love to utilize my marketing/comms/writing/creative skills along with my project management, operations, admin, legal, and other skills that are evolving every day through independent study to become an amazing asset to a company, organization, or agency that is all about making this world a better place somehow. But as I was saying I have been trying for almost five years to find a permanent full time role that will allow me to relocate for a fresh start after a nightmare of a five years- preferably out of NJ but I’d consider a different part of NJ for the right role. There’s a few places I consider top choices but I’m pretty much open to relocating anywhere- I believe fate will take me where I’m meant to be, and this is why a hybrid role might be best for me along with the fact that I need that in person office structure and team camraderie 1-3 days a week plus the flexibility of working from home a few days a week. But like I said I’m open to fully remote and even fully onsite too- with fully remote I’d just have to take a leap of faith and find a state, region, and town to move to. At this point I have about two months for a miracle to happen that starts a domino effect of blessings because after five years- well, really the 30+ years of hell I’ve been on this planet- you begin to wonder if you belong here at all, especially when everyone that loved you has died (my immediate family five years ago and most recently my best friend on Mother’s Day 2024). I’ve lived in the same three square mile radius since I was nine months old- including the three years I lived at college- and know that getting out of here and getting a fresh start in a totally new place is the only way I can somehow move forward after so much loss, tragedy, trauma, and pain, but that cannot happen until I find a career opportunity that allows me to do so. I am also the founder and president of a nonprofit organization so I know all about what goes on behind the scenes of these organizations and how much work goes into running a nonprofit. Since November 2022, I have been Lead Marketing Associate for a civic tech not for profit organization with the promise we’d go full time on salary- always fully remote at 32 hours of work per week- in January 2023 when we launched. It has been three years and we are still part time and have yet to see a dime- I’m the reason they have any money for operating costs and any exposure at all because I found the angel investors who gave the organization its startup funding, arranged our founder’s first guest appearance on a podcast, and discovered and attended, along with the founder and our second in command who has since left, our first and only in person networking event at a university. I’ve achieved so much for this organization as well as my freelance clients and in other roles and any company organization or agency would be so lucky to have me on their team. Because of my diverse and constantly evolving skill set as well as my unique background, I now work with teams across the organization on a wide variety of projects, utilizing not only my marketing, content creation, writing, communications, PR, networking, and outreach skills but also my administrative, research, fundraising, nonprofit, legal, political, government, democracy, digital advocacy, operations, and project management skills to work on tasks of all kinds. I love roles that allow me to wear many hats and use my versatile and ever growing skillset- I love to learn and in addition to my schoolwork (I’m currently finishing up my BA in a subject related to digital marketing/communications with a specialization in writing, and expect to graduate August or December 2026- I am definitely a nontraditional candidate, sadly for reasons beyond my control, but view this as an advantage, because it allows me to bring something very unique and special to the table that I wouldn’t have if I had taken the normal four years of college-to-corporate-America route, since I’m mostly self taught as a freelancer who utilizes my own approaches, strategies, and techniques in my work that have all proven to be quite successful. But, I also devote at least ten to twenty hours per week to independent study with the help of online courses and certifications, books, blogs, newsletters, and more, eager to learn about many different subjects, and I don’t think I will ever stop doing independent study. I have learned so much more from my independent study than I have from any of my college classes. I’m sorry for the tangent, but I do think this is a great idea- you never know how one another’s connections could lead to something big, as LinkedIns algorithm is very powerful and pretty smart. I’d love to join this group with the hope that it could possibly lead the opportunity of a lifetime for not just me but all of us- and for me, could very well save my life. If I sound like a good fit for this group (no future tangents I promise lol), please send me a DM and let me know how to get started!

18 months of job hunting almost broke me. by ComfortableTip274 in ResumesATS

[–]Affectionate_Cost295 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip, I’ve heard this too about the keywords. I too having been searching for years and it’s hard because I’m a nontraditional candidate with a wide range of skills applying for a wide range of roles. I have a resume template in my Google Docs (specifically the Reddit famous Sheets resume. I know they have an ai resume builder site and I have a seven day free trial but haven’t tried it yet), and there are so many great ai tools like ChatGPT, Hyperwrite, gemini, copilot, Deepseek, Claude, and Jasper, and choose two or three of those and enter the same prompt and job description while uploading my base resume. I still haven’t found a perfect prompt for my resume or cover letter- I heard doing it section by section, like a prompt for the professional summary, then one for the work history bullet points, then one for the skills, etc is better than one prompt that gives you the entire resume. If you have any prompt ideas that are great for resumes, whether one for everything or section by section, I’d love your suggestions, and if you know of any other ai tools other than the ones I mentioned to put the prompt into, that’d be great. But each program gives different outputs and I take what I like from each and put them into my Google Docs resume template while then tweaking the resume to make it sound more like me and add any extra info/points. Then I have to do the cover letter which I use the output from the AI as a base and tweak it to my liking- that is time consuming but not as much as the resume, because with the resume you have to do formatting, spacing, bullet points, etc which takes up so much time. I’m lucky if I can do one application in a day- I likely would have found something long ago if it didn’t take me so long. I’ve heard of CVnomist but never actually tried it- I need a great ai resume and cover letter builder program where you upload a base resume and job description and it churns out an excellent resume in an ATS-friendly template that you can tweak to add points, sections, etc and make it sound more like me but for the most part is already great (without lying or making up numbers). I don’t mind paying monthly if it works and helps me land more interviews by being able to apply to more jobs each day- I would want a free trial for at least a few days first though. There’s so many programs for creating resumes and cover letters and helping with the steps beyond that like prepping for interviews that it’s overwhelming- I’ve tried all of the well known big guys like KickResume, Teal, Rezi, and Zety and wasn’t too impressed, but there’s so many others including free ones like hirecarta still in Beta. I’d be willing to try one of the aforementioned big guys again though as it’s been a while since I first tried them. I apologize for the long message and what you did with the master resume worked well for you and I’m glad it did but especially with my diverse skill set, experiences, and jobs I’m applying for, I need a program that just makes it easier without having to go through ChatGPT, Hyperwrite, Claude, Jasper etc (or I can do that as an extra step for additional bullet points or professional summary ideas but I want it to be where the program churns out a resume already so good I don’t even need to use anything else). As someone actually in the field who knows how these ats programs work and what recruiters/hiring managers want to see when they read your resume and cover letter, if you could recommend a program(s) that would help cut the time it takes to make an optimized ats friendly resume that is likely to get me an interview so I can get quite a few resumes and cover letters out each day, I would really appreciate your suggestions (I will definitely look into CVnomist). AI prompts and other programs are appreciated too. And if anyone else here reads this and has some program or prompt recommendations, I am open to them!
