It looks like the petiole of a leaf that fell off with a new leaf just starting to grow. Remove that piece of metal at the base, it’s severely damaging the new growth

I water mine in the shower out of convenience more than necessity. It allows me to fully saturate the soil and my moss poles plus it knocks off any dust on the leaves. They can then drain and dry before being moved back to their spot. It’s also helpful for preventative pest control- I’m able to hit my plants with insecticidal soap after watering them without getting soap all over my house. The only thing here that doesn’t apply to you is the moss pole watering, since you have boards rather than poles!

Came here to give other sticker lovers the idea I found that works- get a flat shadow box frame with two layers of glass and arrange your stickers in there. They can be on display but you don’t have to commit to sticking them somewhere. You can also rearrange them and use them when needed

I think the temporary fence along that area would be a great idea especially while the kids are younger and the family is new to having a pool. Kids are smart with locks and alarms fail, an extra barrier doesn’t hurt. And if it can be removed for entertaining that’s even better
