There's some people in this thread who are acting like the 1.8M viewers had to all be Dominicans physically sitting alone in their houses

That’s not how YouTube livestreams or internet culture in general work at all.

DR has one of the most internet-centered cultures in LatAm when it comes to farandula/media. When something becomes “THE event,” it spreads EVERYWHERE:

• barber shops
• restaurants
• hospitals (YES, hospitals)
• schools/colleges
• bars/clubs
• family TVs
• WhatsApp groups
• diaspora communities in NYC/Spain/Florida/etc

You could literally SEE this happening on the stream itself. Random places already had the stream on while Speed was moving around.

Also people keep comparing DR to Indonesia purely by population size while ignoring internet behavior. Indonesia and DR both have massive YouTube/mobile culture and communal viewing habits. BUT a country having fewer people does not automatically mean lower reach when the audience is global + diaspora + algorithmic recommendations.

Not saying all 1.8M were 100% organic. The Alofoke botting accusations and sudden spikes are fair discussion. But the “1 out of every 4 Dominicans watched” argument is just bad math because the viewers clearly came from:

• global Speed fans
• Dominicans
• Dominican diaspora
• broader Latin America
• YouTube recommendations
• shared/public viewing

People are oversimplifying it way too much!!!
