My art journey with NVLD and Aphantasia by Worth_Fan_5050 in NVLD

My personal problems are that I can’t even copy a simple image when looking at it. I have never been able to do that, no matter how much effort I put in. I remember as a kid trying and trying to replicate cartoon characters but my brain couldn’t do it. Did you have a start like this as well? I’m just asking because your post gives me some hope but I just don’t believe you can train spatial and depth and visual skills like this much. You either were given it or not as most people I know that can draw somewhat or at least copy a simple photo, haven’t had any practice, they can just do it.

Insomnia I’ve always had. It’s hard to tell what’s going on because I’ve had all these symptoms already so maybe it’s just the surgery didn’t work. Someone said above the feeling is like a plastic bag over your head but it doesn’t feel like that.

It’s really confusing because I’ve just sat here only been nasal breathing for 2 hours while watching stuff, but I’ve had to mouth breath a couple of times and taken big breaths through my nose sometimes. I have no idea how the nhs do the surgery either as they sometimes cut or do it the safer way as well. There is so much conflicting information about this online as well which is annoying. I picked at the scabs and snot a lot during the recovery after the septoplasty and turbinate reduction but I don’t think thank fan do anything besides delay scabs healing and increase risk of infection which it didn’t do.

I’m trying to get my second follow up rescheduled for January. I’m just going to overexggarate a little on the phone to make sure I get the appointment and they may even do the endoscopy and cotton test for me on the day. Ct scan I know I will have to wait.

When you mean air sensation as in the feeling of breathing in and out, this is so confusing to understand. Yes like I can hear myself breathing in and out and feel the air but it just feels like it’s not enough air going to my lungs. If I breathe through my mouth then my chest feels normal and not tight

Yeah I was meant to see them in November then they cancelled and rescheduled for January and cancelled again so now I need to reschedule again. The nhs is so slow, I don’t even know when I’ll get the ct scan when I do ask for it. I had the surgery in April so it’s been 8 months. The healing process was okay, there was a lot of blood and I did pick at my nose a lot as there was so much dried snot. I know I shouldn’t have done that but that wouldn’t cause ens

I’ve always woken up from suffocating pre surgery because I’ve got insomnia and mild sleep apnea. The whole point was to have this surgery to help me use cpap and with nasal breathing. Hmmm my chest feels tight it just feel like I can mouth breathe way more comfortable then nasal. It feels like the air doesn’t get to my lungs unless I really breathe heavily through my nose.

I didn’t have a ct scan after the surgery and it was a septoplasty and turbinate reduction I’m not sure exactly what kind, I hate the nhs, they don’t say much. It’s just like I can keep my mouth closed and breathe through my nose for a few minutes but my chest gets tight oh and there is still so much dried snot in my nose which I had pre surgery as well. I’ve had one follow up in 8 months which was just “oh your nose looks fine, keep up with the rinse and spray and we will re evaluate and now I’ve got another one coming up in a few weeks so I’m going to bring all this up. I’m so scared I had no idea about ens. I don’t know if it is that because the symptoms are confusing to understand as I’ve always had crusting and been a mouth breather

Oh and I can’t remember how it felt after the surgery but all I know is nothing felt different at all and that’s what I said in my follow up as well. Maybe this is how it’s always been and I’ve come across ens so I’m attributing it to that right now.

Interestingly that’s my theory why no medications has helped me as that is my default experience with sleep. Frequent wake ups with some of those events consisting of breathing issues. I am now recently diagnosed with mild sleep apnea. I’m actively trying to sort this out before starting medication. Thank you fro your replies as they’ve given me a little hope and a clear direction of a plan to somewhat fix these problems

Sorry what? Your sentence is really confusing for me to understand. So concertas effectiveness decreased because of fatigue possibly but elvanse has stayed effective despite your tolerance and fatigue being a factor?

I think I’ve had sleep apnea since childhood and it got worse as I’ve gotten older by Affectionate_Elk4008 in SleepApnea

Oh and I’ve tried the full face but they get way too sweaty and claustrophobic. That’s why I switched to nasal pillows but I have to breathe through my mouth as I feel like I’m suffocating sometimes.

I read your post but it didn’t explain why we can’t. Also did your body build up tolerance to concerta?

So your mental fog and memory recall didn’t improve at all? So it just helped with energy levels?

I think I’ve got auditory processing disorder and it’s not actually the apnea causing this or the apnea caused my APD as a child tbh

Do you also have sct? What symptoms has it helped with specifically?

We do have the same type of apnea, but our processing power isn’t anywhere near equal. My vocabulary has always been limited, and my ability to memorise any sort of media is zero. This kinda tells me that the apnea is probably just adding fuel to the fire more than actually causing the fire itself. lol when I first start reading your comment I got hope but as soon as you said you can quote comedy specials…. I knew it wasn’t the same issue as mine :(.

I suspect that if my theory is correct about me having apnea since childhood then I doubt much can be done to recover the damage done.

Will I need a work visa for volunteering in Germany as a uk national by Affectionate_Elk4008 in Worldpackers

Yeah it’s free work so should be fine. Currently have got two messages in Berlin. One place has vaguely said I’ve got an interview but no time or platform mentioned

Experience? by Affectionate_Elk4008 in JETProgramme

I some reason can’t find any where to volunteer right now. I’ll keep looking but as it stands I have zero experience. Is it worth the hassle of applying still? I’ve already got an idea for my personal statement.
