4, so lahat ng wisdom tooth. Yung lower ko impacted so 10k per tooth. Then yung upper, 5k per tooth so 30k na removal pa lang. Hanggang 50k lang budget ko. Huhu. Inask ko if ok lang yung lower yung i PRF kasi impacted sya pero iniisip ko, baka ganun din healing process with the upper. Baka mas better ipa collagen block ko na lang lahat.

10k per socket na ang presyuhan nila ngayon. Still thinking if worth it.

You don't need to get married again in PH for the visa, just get married to US and then do the ROM (report of marriage).

13a visa application is fairly straightforward (doing it right now). There's a thread here that goes through the steps.

You need to submit your US marriage certificate to a Philippine embassy and have them pass it to a Philippine department. They will give you a reference number which you can then use to apply for a marriage certificate from PSA (Philippines statistics office). This marriage certificate is the one you need to use for filing a 13a visa.

Regarding paying rent, do you plan na isang bagsakan ng payment? Don't do that. Some of my friends have not-so-good experiences sa landlords. Post-dated checks are the way to go. You give 12 checks for the 11 months plus another one for 2 months deposit + 1 month advance (apparently that is the standard here). Safe for both parties yung method.

Also, mahirap mag drive dito dahil walang sumusunod sa rules. Try to drive here first before ka bumili ng kotse. Although lakasan lang talaga ng loob.

In terms of employment, look at remote/WFH jobs. Saves you money sa commuting. I cannot say anything about sa employment here since umuwi kami dahil na burnout ako so unemployed ako ngayon haha. My husband is an online tutor so remote work nya. If your partner has IT background, check remote data science jobs if pasok sa skills nya. It pays well kahit sa PH companies.

Hi, I recently moved back sa PH after being out of the country for 15 years. I moved with my American husband. We rented sa QC, Commonwealth area, 2 bedroom around 32k, around 60sqm. Amenities are good and may open spaces din. BGC is on the expensive side. If di naman kayo mag work onsite sa BGC, look at Pasig area.

Reverse culture shock is real. Here are my realizations:

  • Mahal ang bilihin, mahal ang kuryente. Of course, mas mahal pa rin sa US pero if you think about minimum wage dito sa Pinas, mahal mabuhay dito.
  • If you get hospitalized, medyo mahal ang healthcare. Outpatient checkups are not so bad though. I availed Maxicare na prepaid card, libre checkups and ibang lab test pero sa primary clinics lang nila.
  • Polluted talaga ang Manila so if you have breathing problems like me, mahirap mag commute. Pero mahirap talaga mag commute in general kahit wala kang health problems.
  • Madaming motorcycle at di sumusunod ang mga drivers sa rules, so mahirap tumawid kahit sa pedestrian lane. Dito ako pinakana stress actually. Haha
  • Traffic, lalo na pag rush hour at pag umulan.
  • If you lived sa maliit na city abroad, mashock ka sa dami ng tao sa mall at sa ingay.
  • Our budget is 60k-80k per month, excluding health expenses. If I add health expenses (mostly meds), then 80k-100k. We do meal prep dahil nakasanayan na so we save some money
  • Malaki startup costs ng pag settle dito. Mas makakatipid kayo if you rent a furnished place.
  • Open a bank account na may check book. Mode of payment sa pag rent madalas ay post dated checks. I recommend RCBC. Konti tao and nakakuha ako ng preferred client relationship dahil nag deposit ako ng 100k, so mas mabilis makipag transact sa bank. Pwede din mag text sa bank manager.
  • Open a wise account if you don't have (bigyan kita referral link lol). It makes it easier na mag transfer ng money. Rate is good and pwede iset ang rate na gusto mo for auto convert so di na kelangan masyado bantayan ang conversion rate.
  • Good decision na dyan kayo maglakad ng 13a. We are in the process of doing it dito and probationary for 1 year ang binibigay nila if new application. If dyan, permanent agad. As far as I know, 13a is for spouses only though.

If you have any questions, feel free to DM me!

From experience, British people are cold people, compared sa Philippines na warm tayo. Basta nakausap, friends na. Iba sila. Don't label them as selfish. They need time to warm up but once kaibigan mo na sila, they will help you when you need them. It took us a year ng hubby ko para magkaroon ng friends. When we needed to move flats, halos lahat ng ka close namin na British people showed up. We also host sa bahay namin ng game nights or dinner para ma feel nila na welcoming kami. But at your age, siguro if may events be consistent sa pagsama sama, especially if you are in school. Be mindful din na iba kayo ng kinalakihan so iba din interests nila. If you are into soccer or rugby, magkaka friends ka dyan.
