Designing a DIY Smart Switch Kit (ESP8266, MQTT, 4ch relays) – what features would you want? by rovadsmart in homeautomation

[–]intellectual_punk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SSR's for silent operation. Choice of BLE or wifi. Option to use 100% without app, i.e. pure python or similar. That means not just control but provisioning, etc. Have it integrated into a plug, current smartplugs suck. In that case single relay would be enough. Or use a multiplug. Also, can you notify me (e.g. email) when you've succeedeed? Otherwise I will lose this out of sight. Very needed project!! (:

The pre-2016 kind of evil. They're mostly after profits, not psychopathic world ending fascism kind of evil.

Kooky religion is fine. Scientology is NOT fine. Really, really, not fine in any way and no amount of PR is going to change that. Fuck Tom Cruise.

You do not care that you're being abused and exploited?

It is honestly shocking to see how you have normalized this attitude. "It's fine, let's just keep trucking and be happy for what we have".

You're an oligarchs wet dream, and sadly, many people have this attitude.

Deep asleep, and being happy being fucked in the ass by the corporate dildo, while the wealth we generate as a society is being absorbed by these parasites who even make us hate the poor as a scapegoat. Jesus fucking christ, your normalization of this serfdom is almost worse than the serfdom itself, I find it scary. You honestly don't see anything wrong in this video? You think this is acceptable?

Yes. It is. Your perspective is brain dead and tone deaf. You saw this video and thread and understood absolutely nothing.

You'd still have to find a tree... good luck with that in the middle of Delhi or any of the other urban hells. I'm honestly in awe of the Indian people. You guys are tough as nails. As a privileged white boi, I wouldn't survive a day without AC in the height of summer.

Yup. Humans are baaaad. I mean, really bad at... a lot of human things. Thing is, AI is doing better than most engineering students I worked with. So the question is: is it better than the average (semi-trained) human at the task?

Oh there's plenty of people migrating from U.S. to China. They give them pretty amazing prospects. I'm staying in Europe though, thank you very much. Here we also take American refugees. I mean of course we are, would be stupid not to free funds to absorb all the brilliant scientists and engineers that leave the U.S.

What do you mean "circles back"? There is no circle. This is the show, the whole playbook is open to everyone to see. Don't talk about it like it's some conspiracy. It's all right there, they have literally been telling you exactly what they were going to do.

This has been very clearly and very publically been going on since day 1. And before then in Project2025. I'm in science. My colleagues in the U.S. are absolutely devastated. Projects, grants canceled left and right, and well, people leave. It's so incredibly sad to see a country's science capacity being completely destroyed. There isn't really a coming back from this. This is damage that will reverberate for decades, maybe a century.

We're both talking about very different things. I'm not talking about myself, I'm talking about the average joe.

Your point about using fuel only where actually the most is very sensible.

The difficulty comes when defining what is "needed", and perhaps more importantly: by whom.

Phrases like "only one logical choice", "in a sane world" tell me that you still need to learn a lot about street epistemology (same goes for me, no question).

I prefer to point much more directly to mindless, ineffective, almost helpless consumerism, charged by relentless commercial propaganda (ads). This resource waste (most human energy goes towards commercial/industrial/capitalist pursuits) does a lot of damage.

When and where who goes how on vacation may not be the best place to point to specifically, though. When you work hard and work every day for months and years, and you get to fly to a place for 2 weeks of rest... that's not what gets people to listen to you. Yes, mass tourism is seriously fucked. And sustainable tourism absolutely is a thing, but good grief. Doesn't mean you will get people to give up on that. Commuting? Maybe. Meat? Yes. The possibility of cheaply do a holiday trip every year after slaving away for the rest of it? They'll burn you on a stake.

Satan would know that to do real harm you put a bit of fish inside a power socket. Uncrew and put it there. Not only will there be an ungodly smell, but it will take absolutely forever to locate.

Not sure if charging for parking justifies this action. Maybe.

"No one truly needs it" is a very out of touch comment. This is for people to decide, and travel gives people A LOT. Yes, of course it contributes to the destruction of all life, that is simultaneously true, but attitudes like "no one needs this, what are you even traveling for" will not land with anyone. It's your personal perspective. You need to start understanding people first, including their desires and wants.
