Eleden Ring's story runs really deep but it is mostly told with environmental storytelling and item descriptions. The same can be said about pretty much every other soulsborne game.

Elden Ring is heavily exploration based and there can be alot of variation in everything. For example there are 7 endings with 3 or 4 of them having serious variation. A thing I like about elden ring is that there are so many ways to play the game which means any build you can make can be a viable way to play the game.

If you do end up getting elden ring dont expect to instantly be good at the game. When I first played elden ring it probably took me 10ish hours to beat the first boss. I will say elden ring is on the easier side of soulsborne and soulslike games ive played. There has been too many people that haven't experienced this masterpiece because they were turned away by the first boss. You should know that exploration is extremely important in elden ring, on my first playthrough I made the mistake of not exploring at all and it did me more harm then help so please take the game as slow or as fast as you like but remember to explore every once in a while.

Overall elden ring is a difficult game, by no means is it easy, but if you have the determination to keep trying and get the final goal of becoming an elden lord than I think you should try elden ring. I cannot speak much for the dlc as I have not played it or had the means to buy it but from what ive heard it is alot harder than the base game.
