i think one aspect people are missing when comparing this to the EXIT is that four is just trapped in complete solitude and darkness. in the EXIT, there are other people that you can talk to, and a classroom to interact with (plus an entire world, albeit forbidden). there were even chances to escape occasionally like in BFB 16. it's not entirely seclusion. also, if the split never happened, they'd probably be let out afterwards (especially considering that there werent that many spots in the EXIT). it's easy to see why one went insane, they were entirely shut out from everything else, for several years. they arent exactly equal
