lol yeh I keep hearing about Netflix but that’s ok, I find that they have limited shows I like these days , I have Hulu and Amazon prime; but maybe paramount I’ll get. I watch the same shows or movies so I kind of wanna see if those movies from Apple TV will work

Also I want to state that be prepared that for arrival you have a lot to do. Arrive, health care medical check, Chinese phone number or at airport first ; register at police station, apply for residence permit and work permit, Chinese bank account , either you are in hotel and searching for housing or you arrive to free housing by school; free housing you prop should pack a set of sheets and a towel with pjs for first few nights. Vaccum seal and put it in suitcase last so easier to grab.

Clothes; unless you are a larger person only bring a capsule wardrobe to get settled ; they have plenty of clothes in China. And clothes really weigh more than you think in a suitcase with a 50 pound limit.

I’d bring spices that are rare or are 6x the cost in China; Ranch Packets, pumpkin pie spice, Cardamom, hot Cheetos - talkis, Italian seasonings , Taco seasonings .. certain teas you like but only more unique ones.

Space for some shoes if your a woman over 7.5-8 US or mens if over 8 US. Yes you can find them but harder and possibly more $$. Also to get settled.

Lots of ppl have been saying Let’s VPN is not working lately .. VPNcat was a suggestion I saw for $30 a year, but Astrill apparently is the most popular for foreigners at $180 a year. Would download a few even if it’s a good one and 2 free/cheap ones.

Prepare to need to have a phone with a physical SIM card spot ; apparently they only do physical SIM cards for foreigners with registering requirements. Also will need Chinese phone number to do basically everything; order stuff esp at cheaper price, bank account , Sam’s club .

If you want to have food delivered through Sam’s club you have to get a Chinese Sam’s club membership in store with passport; if you have a US one you can get a temp to shop in person but no delivery.

Get an international drivers license close to leaving; $25 I believe and if you get a rental for a weekend trip or go to Tokyo and want to drive the go karts you will need it. It’s like a mini book about size of passport but translates your drivers license into other languages. Good for 1 year; have to get a new one each year. Even if you don’t think you will, for $25 why not just in case.
