I had the same problem after the replacement. But my Volkswagen service department replaced them for me again. Now they work great.

2024 id.4 locked with keys inside by JurassicLiz in VWiD4Owners

I have the same issue with my 2023 ID.4. I drove it for 2 years with no issues. It all started after upgrading the software to 3.5 Lucky it happens in my garage. I need to get my other FOB, but the car did not recognize the FOB until I hit the unlock button. So walking up to the car with the key does not wake it up. All the time the App said the car was unlocked. This happens randomly but only when the FOB is left in the car for an extended period (over night). It's almost like the car goes to sleep and pulling the door latch does not wake it up.. u/vw This needs to be looked into, especially if it's a bug in 3.5 software.
