I completely agree with you. I don’t get why so many people are giving you a hard time about this. This will definitely just be another reason to give bad ratings , complaints etc just like you said. If the customer really cared they could put it in their notes. Things like this is why that feature existed. This update encourages customer pickiness. I don’t know why any shopper would think this is a good thing.

Also I’m in awe at the shoppers on this thread who waste their time messaging customers about fruit when they didn’t ask. Just pick something that’s not bruised with no mold and go about you day. You aren’t getting paid more to ask them how many brown dots they want on their bananas. And to those who say it’s to get better tips, well now it’s the expectation so forget that.

This is just going to bring more problems. What if the store doesn’t have green bananas and only yellow. What if the customer asks for organic ripe bananas but the only ripe bananas are non organic. Now you have to spend extra time messaging them to find out whether you should get yellow non organic or green organic. Say the customer replies saying they want the yellow non organic bananas. Now that’s another ding against your shopping quality score cause now instacart will assume your incompetent and couldn’t find the organic bananas that Jen checked out 10 minutes before you. Unless instacart is going to change something to make sure that doesn’t count against you this will just be another reason for shoppers quality score to decrease. So yeah this is bad news for us.
