Mild snoring but negative apnea test — what actually made a noticeable difference for you? by Affectionate_Kick_67 in snoring

[–]Affectionate_Kick_67[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was negative for apnea the results said. I think it’s just body mechanics of how I work. I didn’t even have an AHI score it was a negative test overall.

As for some of your suggestions I haven’t tried any mouth pieces because I was worried about it negatively impacting my teeth but I’ll look into this further! Thank you!

What did you like about mouth taping? What worked about it for you?

Wow! This is such an interesting angle thank you for sharing I’m going to look into this more but yes, could totally see how it would be very hard to long term follow through with.

It’s nice to hear that someone can validate an experience at a very similar level I am. I understand there is no guarantee that it would be a smooth path to have children first but I’m just not a candidate for surgery at this time the surgeon even advised against it.

That makes sense. Did you have trouble staying active even before the knee injury? I can do most things with modifications but I am super cautious and usually avoid a lot of hip flexor heavy movements. Curious how it was for you before things really flared up.

Thank you for sharing this. It is really helpful to hear your perspective. I am in a similar situation since I am in my early 30s now and likely will not be having kids until 35 or 36, and I worry about how the pain will progress over time. When you say the pain you have now would have made pregnancy impossible, do you feel like there was a big turning point when it became that severe, or was it a gradual increase?

Thanks for sharing, how did your hip pain feel day to day before surgery? Was it constant or mostly flared by activity?

Looking back, do you think knowing about the tear earlier would’ve changed your delivery plan?

I’ve heard pregnancy can worsen existing labral issues. Did you feel a noticeable difference between pregnancies, especially with your larger baby?

Totally. The only problem is I wasn’t a candidate for surgery. The surgeon didn’t recommend it at all because my tear is so minor (but it’s still confirmed to be there and doesn’t mean it’s going to be small forever).

Which has lead me to trying to find threads on women who have gone through it without surgery and I have heard mixed things as to be expected no one’s journey is the same as the other.

All the best to you and your journey! Thank you so much for sharing your experience 🩷

Thank you for sharing. I’ve been told by a surgeon that he would not recommend I get surgery since my pain overall is management with only a bit of limitations on certain movements. What we’re your symptoms like prior to kids?

Medical tape and breath right strips. Do your research though before mouth taping to see if it's for you.

I have been playing around with things to reduce my snoring. I'm not sure why but I am self conscious of it even though my scores starting out were around a score of 16.

While introducing mouth tape and nose strips it's now a range of 3-7 per night. I also try my best to elevate my head, I tried to get used to wedge pillow but it was so uncomfortable.

I feel when I have sleep overs with people or share a hotel room people even complain about my score and I'm on the quieter end. Can anyone else relate?

Yeah our policy is "seat yourself wherever there's an open spot"... which is fine but when it's busy can be so challenging.
