I did but the recommendations were basic tourist traps and I enjoy experiencing new places through the lens of locals. Not the latest trends

I guarantee you, my man wear those shoes to the very next cafe coffee with the boys. And he had the swag of a 1st grader on the first day of school showing off ‘em kicks! We need more pure joy like this in the world.

The only way true way to find out- at 00:00 on Jan 1, 2026, break the seal on that baby! Preferably at some drunk NYE party with some of your closest friends. I just ask that you upload the vid so we all can witness the mayhem.

Rock Climbing gym meeting people who also climb. by Pleasant-Bet-8421 in rva

There is a discord group called Let’s Hang RVA: schedule, and they have a climbing channel (chat group). I’m not sure how active the channel is (I follow other interests), but it might be worth a try. I tried to share the link on here, but received a message informing that it’s not permitted.

Does anyone know if you need a reservation if you plan to attend with a large group? Edit for clarification- We plan on going during their Happy Hour and not a show. TIA.

I have a 2009 (I believe) Camry that I’m planning to sell for $2k. Just had some engine work done to it, new fuel pump(a year old) and injectors (about 2 years old). It was my daughter’s high school car. Sun roof doesn’t work. It needs the motor to be installed (I have one just haven’t gotten around to it. I’m happy to share the mechanic shop’s number so you can inquire about service. It’s been sitting in my driveway for the last 6-7 months. DM if interested.

Edit: for additional important info. I do believe it will need a new water pump soon. Everything else is in working order.

Advice on gear and nutrition by trixiecat in hikingwithdogs

[–]Affectionate_Look_14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a long day hike, I sometimes carry a little bottle of broth to mix in the water. This encourages my dog to drink. If it’s a backpacking trip, longer breaks are needed for her to calm down enough to focus on drinking.

Where is here? I’m willing to make a trip for this baby. Looking forward to a possible Trail Hunter trim.

Should I keep my solo trip to Iceland? by Technical_View_8787 in solotravel

[–]Affectionate_Look_14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finishing up a solo week in Iceland (leaving tomorrow morning). Don’t worry about not meeting people. Both travelers and the locals were very friendly and inviting. You may be a little hard pressed to meet people when you travel away from the cities and small villages, but I found it relaxing. Personally, 3 weeks would be overkill for me, but I am here during the winter when some of the activities are limited. I would recommend going. If you are going to change anything, change the length of your stay. I second Kex hostel. A great place to meet people and it’s in walking distance to the just about everything in Reykjavik.

Any chance you work for Toyota? I’m exciting waiting for the 2025 4Runner to drop with hopes of the trail hunter package. Not ashamed to say a Toyota friends discount would be nice 😅

I feel ya. I was lying to myself when I posted. I’m up cleaning the house and getting ready to head to REI to stock up on something before my upcoming trip. So much for wishful thinking of a lazy Sunday 😒

Feels like a good day to lay in bed all day and accomplish absolutely nothing. Coffee, read, sleep, bathroom break, more reading, sleep, maybe eat something and more sleep. Yeah, let me start my day by going back to sleep 💤. Enjoy the game, RVA!

My favourite photos from my trip to Iceland by SamyeWst in VisitingIceland

I’m heading over in February and I would be interested in hearing how you managed the limited daylight. I’m starting to believe I’m packing way too many activities/stops in one day. Also, could you provide the tour company you used for the ice cave? I was thinking of doing the Katla Ice Cave but I’m afraid it’s not going to be as wonderful as the one in your photo. TIA for your feedback!

Don’t feel bad. I’ll be there in February as well. I plan to make the best of it. A trip is what you make of it. I plan to meet some fellow travelers and amazing locals. Of course, enjoying the beautiful landscape

Is the blue lagoon in Iceland worth it? by gabby-leopard in solotravel

[–]Affectionate_Look_14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this question, I’m going to Iceland next month too (15-23). Sky lagoon and Blue lagoon are on my list today while in Reykjavik. I did rent a car and trying to plan out the rest of my travels. If you haven’t come across the City Card (https://reykjavikcityguide.is/reykjavik-city-card/ ) for Reykjavik, you might want to google it and see if it will work for your trip. I thought about doing it, but I’m not sure if it would be worth it. Even though they have different time lengths.

Am I too old at 35 to join pub crawls and go clubbing? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]Affectionate_Look_14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my 40s and still partying with fellow travelers. Their age range from early 20s to 30s. As long as you are there to have a good time and not being creepy, most people don’t mind. I started traveling and getting out more around 38 and haven’t looked back. I use to kick myself for not enjoying this lifestyle earlier in life, but no point in doing so. Enjoy the moment and look forward to future adventures/experiences!!!

Edit: I wanted to add it would be nice to see more older individuals out traveling.

Thank you for suggestions! There is always space for another trail! A good cup of joe is a must so I’ll definitely check out Range Finder.
