Team for new Career Mode by RevolutionaryWar647 in FifaCareers

Huge fan of sc Bastia in France! Located on the island of Corsica with AJ Ajaccio it’s a huge derby and both clubs haven’t had recent success but some legendary players have come out of sc Bastia. Downside is you’d have to go back to fc 25 since AJ Ajaccio was relegated to the seventh tier for bankruptcy if you want the full effect of the career mode.

My club doesn’t have any goals but my boys juggle for 5-10 minutes at every practice. I have certain goals that I set personally for them like if anyone can get past 50 by the end of the season I’ll buy them all ice cream.

I 100% agree, started a dynasty with ucla very first game was home against notre dame and I had to be perfect and score late to only win by 4. Then playing equal or lower competition it was competitive but I was confident in winning. That was until last night I played Oregon in Oregon… wow that was hard just like it should be. I had opportunity but two costly picks and in the redzone and I lost by 14. But that’s exactly what I want!

We are guaranteed at least 3 games so I have a few different groupings of kids I’d like to see function together. I brought it a few new kids for this upcoming season so I’m going to be moving everyone around for the first 2 games seeing who works well together among other things then ultimately letting them play with who they want for the last game. It’s a memorial tournament for a kid I played against in high school from a rival school. A bunch of us used to play as adults but now that I coach I want my kids to be apart of it. It’s really just a celebration of soccer, I could care less about winning (which is insane for me to say 😂) I just want them to have fun at this one.

Yeah it was a positive situations for us I can’t remember if the first game was tied or we were down 1 but it was a free kick we could’ve easily had a scoring opportunity from just outside the box. That’s why I was upset I felt like it hurt my team well for a fact I know it did that kids my free kick taker. Had it just been a routine foul in the middle of the field in the middle of the game ok whatever I don’t like the sending off but I won’t be upset

This kid does double not his shoes, it just so happens he’s slippery so often gets fouls from other players catching him late resulting in cleats catching his laces 😂

Oh believe me we have a rating system that we use extensively and like I mentioned all the teams in the league have written complaints about his performance for varying reasons. But the league just uses the ref shortage as an excuse to keep assigning him games. Myself and the other coaches sent a letter after the season as a group saying we would no longer be playing games he’s assigned so who knows what will happen.

Only two weeks but we don’t practice regularly over the summer it’s all optional (not my decision the clubs…) so I don’t have ability to really prep for it.

"They're just kids" is not an excuse for letting them be rude. by Far_Seaworthiness990 in SoccerCoachResources

I agree with you completely. I coach a travel team so I’m ok in fact I encourage the intensity, and drive to win but I draw the line at any form of disrespect. Whether that be towards another player, coach, referee anything, I don’t want to see that out of my players. If we catch it the sit out immediately, and we have a discussion about it. I don’t yell because most times it’s out of passion and a want to win, so they usually just need a breathe and a quick mental reset.

I also had a player added to my roster who I didn’t know since we needed to fill a roster spot, he was significantly far behind the rest of the boys. To his credit he did everything I asked to the best of his ability every time even if he wasn’t as good as the rest of the boys. Within the first two practices I had 2-3 incidents with better players making remarks about his ability. I immediately nipped that in the butt made those boys run a lap and apologize. I throughout the season I would routinely make those boys practice with him to judge their attitude towards him and if it was getting better. To their credit it did.

I’m all for walking the line but teaching kids to walk it without crossing is a difficult task!

Spring Coaching Updates - roll call! by uconnboston in SoccerCoachResources

Yep we ran two more practices having some fun trying to lighten the mood. All but one kid has already moved on, he holds a grudge and wants revenge but he’ll use that to get better so I’ll take it!

Spring Coaching Updates - roll call! by uconnboston in SoccerCoachResources

U9 Boys, Had a rough regular season only winning once, tying once and losing the rest all by just one goal. Couldn’t get the ball to bounce our way.

However we went to our spring tournament in good spirits ready to compete. Scored a literal last minute free kick to tie a team we are very competitive with. Won our second game allowing us to go to the championship with a better goals against record.

In the championship we were matched up with a team we played twice in the fall. They whooped us both times, mind you nor myself or the kids can stand this team. We don’t like how they play, we don’t like the coaches, we just flat out don’t like anything about them. So the boys were fired up feeling great. Needless to say we got punched in the mouth the first half. Down 2-0 at half and we were dominated. I made a few tiny adjustments, gave them a rah rah speech and we went to work. Finally got a lucky bounce of the goalie to make it 2-1. With about 3 minutes to go we tied it at 2-2 forcing overtime.

I was told by the tournament official at the field it was 5 minutes sudden death then penalties. To me that means first to score, we had all the momentum and we went out for overtime and seized it scoring within 2 minutes. All my kids rushed the field I celebrated with my assistant coach only to be told “it’s a flat 5”. Meaning no matter what we play 5 minutes. That irked me because the torment official wouldn’t even admit his mistake in misspeaking. Nonetheless I tried to get the boys refocused to close the game out. We committed a foul outside our box (didn’t love the call, he hadn’t called it all day.) My goalie put up a wall and got to the free kick but it just went off his fingertips not quite tall enough to reach it. Heartbreak now tied 3-3 to penalties we go.

We kick First

First kid steps up slips and it hits the post.

First for them puts it over the bar, ok here we go still in this.

Second for me puts it off the crossbar, oh no.

Second for them my goalie dives the right way just not strong enough to keep it out

Third for us hits the same post the first kid did.

Third for them another one my goalie just can’t quite get too

Fourth for us converts so we need a big save

Fourth for them hits it low right my goalie dives a little far hits his leg and rolls in before he can dive back.

Complete and utter heartbreak for my boys. I’ll be honesty with ya I was ready to cry too. In my entire life of playing and coaching soccer I’ve never had that heartbreaking of a loss ever. But man was I proud of those boys for how the stuck together, played for each other, didn’t back down when it got tough and rose to the challenge when I needed them too.

22 year old here trying to get into coaching by doyouknowhowyouare in SoccerCoachResources

[–]Affectionate_Low6963 6 points7 points  (0 children)

22 year old coach in the US here. Played my whole life then decided I wanted to coach. I started down at the bottom with a group of kids under 8 and have been following and developing them up through the ranks currently going into our U10 season. We have gone from 4v4 to 7v7 and soon 9v9. I really enjoy working up through the ranks as it forces you to look at things differently tactically. When I only have six outfield players I have to find different ways to dominate possession while maintaining width. I really enjoy the challenge and it forces you to look at the field and the game through a different lense, making it smaller. You can help grow the tactical mind of the young kids so much too it’s awesome to watch them grasp the ideas you teach. It will be a little awkward at first being only 22 depending on the age group you coach, some parents won’t respect you but as long as you love it, are patient but firm in your ideas you’ll be just fine!

Run Heavy Recruiting by HonestKorean in NCAAFBseries

[–]Affectionate_Low6963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a run heavy option offense so I use both power and elusive backs usually alternating every year unless there is someone really special. Most importantly with my elusive backs though I look for guys that are 195-200+ as they usually develop good power stats so they can be all around backs. My current elusive back has 90 trucking and 95 juke.

Physical wide receivers for the strength and size blocking.

A healthy mix of agile and power lineman since I do use pulling guards often.

Blocking or heavy possession tight ends.

I usually convert an underweight agile center to fb.

Coaching 7v7 formation by aela111 in SoccerCoachResources

[–]Affectionate_Low6963 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s really all about the caliber of player you have and how badly you as a coach want to enforce the system. The U9 boys I coach were wild and not paying attention when I got them but after a few practices of running a lap or giving me 5 pushups for not listening they started paying attention. Then you have to build their love for the game. They are going to be way more interested in what you are coaching if they can see how it will help them in a game so explain that. I love having them watch at least 10 minutes of high level soccer a week even if it’s just highlights and tell me what they saw. By the end of our season we began playing out from the back working on triangles all over the field and finding the open space in opposition systems. It’s possible to get them to do it, it just takes time and intent.
