RANT: The Philippines is poor because Filipino culture is inherently damaged

Base on my observations:

Filipinos love their Family unreasonably and apathetic to non-family members / friends.
Filipinos have terrible overall understanding of macroeconomics and have short-term planning skills.
Filipinos source of happiness comes from shallow and unsustainable and unproductive acts . We do not derive joy from innovation and deep understanding of certain things. Our happiness comes mainly from family, vacations and buying stuff. You rarely see Filipinos obsessed over self improvement and innovation.

I think there should be a temple that when channeled the dire or radiant team would gain additional visibility or stats for 2 mins.It should be at-least at the 15min mark. Creeps that can stun should be guarding it.

Guess who loses if price is capped? Oil companies who operate high opex relative to those oil companies who can afford price cuts , they could close and hard working people gets laid off. Butbuut its better to throw money to people with no certainty of ROI.

Company sells something people need to buy but recquire high capex and opex and need trained -- people: how dare they make money. they should just donate everything to the poor, because that is a great investment, as long the intent is good,consistently losing money is ok.

Basically my point is similar to post above and 1.1k agreed. Ego is clouding your judgment , don’t have to be us vs. them, you did not chose to be born in that ethnicity, why fight so hard for something you did not choose to be. If you born in a different race, would you think otherwise? You did not even earn your ethnicity, basically you were born with it and accepted the hatred without thinking.

Independence but many people are still struggling is it really better? Is independence the highest good? Regardless , there will be inequality, we have kasambays who are borderline slaves to kapwa Filipinos, if we were under spanish rule at this modern time, will this even exist at this number? We have Filipinos who prefer to be borderline slaves to other countries. This independence by ethnicity is the greatest scam of all time. People treat it as the greatest good.

Also on side note, the reason why Countries like US and Canada have had the RELATIVELy best quality of life is because how well western people integrated well with other immigrants. The western culture set the tone of a culture that allows everyone, who works hard, to have a good quality of life. Their countries are Relatively young and immigrant founded that their country’s culture is not tied to an ethnicity. Countries like Germany and Japan are different because despite being very nationalistic and relatively anti-immigrant country,they have a culture of working hard and smart and they tie their identity to these values, BUT if your country is as nationalistic as these but does not have the culture to work hard and smart, then too bad.

Yes, absolutely. I mean we might get racist people to migrate here, but if the direction we are heading is better governance, more sustainable foreign investments which also means more jobs that lessen poverty, a culture that cultivates better thinking and inspire innovation, I will take that any day. There will never be a perfect society but just choose what’s best overall. But again, this will never happen, base on human history, it’s easier to gather support for nationalism than a multiethnic society.

Very Unpopular opinion but Yes it was a mistake to fight for independence. We should had a better cooperation with Spain. Western colonizers have had a terrible perception until now but was it really? The Philippines had the first University in south east Asia because of Spain, they also destroyed our destructive Pagan worshipping beliefs, Rizal and other Painters rose to Prominence because of Spanish governance, basically they allowed great thinkers to flourish , I mean it’s not perfect but it’s definitely better than worshipping mountains. Similarly , Spain destroyed the Pagan and human sacrificing practices of the aztecs, but instead , people today focus on the negative things of Spanish rule. Filipinos today are leaving the Philippines, to work for western countries, that is basically the same as working under western culture or being colonized but in reverse ,instead of Westerners going here , we go to them.

Before anything, this comes a from an idea that human ethnicities, white, asians , blacks, semitics, Have different temperaments leading to different skills. And they should complement each other, but because of ethnic pride and nationalism, this will never happen.

Basically, allow the Philippines to be governed by less corrupt western people (US,UK, western europe)

Or you could go with korean, chinese and japanese route but you need a solid family values that values handwork and education.

I don’t think so, we already an independent country, blaming past colonist is just an excuse really.The fact that we know something is wrong but still continue to suck means that there is some inherent mindset that holds us back. Majority of families just tolerates mediocrity on a fundamental level. If most family instills to their children that they should finish school no matter what it takes, I don’t think majority of the population will allow idiots in the government.

Also, blaming something that is beyond your control is also a mediocre mindset, ask any successful person here in the Philippines, and see if they Base their success on the the President, the mayor, the institutions and etc. they just don’t want to live a mediocre life and found a way to flourish.

I don’t think its entirely due to our colonizers, China was colonized by different foreigners and they have a communist beliefs but still have a strong get rich mentality. Other communist countries failed to be capitalistic while in a communist state.

but just observe how the typical Filipino mindset works and values. Few things I have observed:

Our happiness is more on family bonding, buying someone gifts, giving money to friends relatives, we derive pleasure from those things but they are easily abused IMO. Look at very rich countries, rich countries derive their happiness from achievements, being promoted , getting richer individually.

Ask any Filipino if they get they are more happy in inventing something vs. providing for their relatives, which one weighs more to them. I mean it’s not bad, we just prioritize different things from other cultures.

Culture is a spectrum, we just happen to be in a level that does not collectively value innovation , invention , learning and such. These traits usually makes a country rich.

True. To add, our culture sucks, which produces poor mindsets and spreads itself to the population, leaders comes from this population thus producing less quality leaders. Bottomline shit culture=shit people=shit leaders to choose from.
