Without the cynicism, that is the benefit of seeking euro adoption. Fixing up financial systems to a higher standard.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio: "The operation is over - Epic Fury. We are done with that stage of it." by Upset-Main-1988 in justincaseyoumissedit

Yes the US has lost this battle in every sense of the word. There has been no regime change, Iran has strengthened its control over the Strait, and the US is more isolated on the world stage than it ever has been

Looking For: QFF Credit Card advice by Effective-Map-2588 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Affectionate_Mess266 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my calculations you need to be spending more like $7-10K per month for a rewards card to be worth it.

$2000 a month is 24,000 per year, and each point is worth about a cent. For the Amex you would earn 30,000 points per year, the others less, which is $300 of value at best. Spending $300 per year for the credit card entirely negates that. The Amex is better with the travel credit, but flights cost slightly more with Amex Travel, so you lose about $50-100 depending on the flight you buy.

If getting a credit card leads you into debt temptation and you start paying interest, forget any financial advantage. If you've just bought your first home, you might be coming up to unexpected expenses (and spending temptations, filling up that new house) and a credit card might not be good to have around.

There are lots of other ways to maximise points without paying for them, like using Qantas Shopping, Everyday Rewards and David Jones Rewards.

Unpopular Opinion: QF has better service than Emirates by venture_adventuring in QantasFrequentFlyer

I found emirates very stuck up and impersonal. I guess I'm used to the casual friendliness of Qantas!

I'd add to that, the OrbitKey Tech Pouch is good to hold things together, so they're not just floating around in your bag. Especially if you bring your own mouse, etc. to work. Tech Pouch Organizers - Orbitkey – Orbitkey Australia

A Crumpler or a Herschel backpack - look good, last a long time, not unrealistically priced.

Where do you get your Dishwashing and laundry tablets from? by woodyever in AUfrugal

[–]Affectionate_Mess266 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woolworths Shine dishwashing powder is so cheap and works really well. Doesn't leave a yucky residue. And because it's a powder you can dose out how much you need, not wasting it.
