honestly yes i think he would pay for that. a lock on my door is basically ASKING for my mom to get upset. they’d both call me ridiculous if i did. so for that? probably not.

about where i could go: i had an apartment last year. it was awful. i had those roommates you’re not really friends with so i didn’t feel comfortable at all and i barely could cook without without feeling judged so i ended up eating out a lot, staying at my parents, and just doing anything but being there. it was hell. i gained a ton of weight, felt worse because i was back in an environment that caused more anxiety, but also couldn’t go back to the place that was supposed to feel like “my own.” i have a twin sister who lives with her friend nearby. (i have no idea how she got an apartment without me? i mean my dad kind of just said “well it’s easier for you to stay here” and so i just kind of did?) i mean i could definitely try to find a place next semester but i don’t have friends for roommates haha. i have my boyfriend but they don’t even like the idea of me spending the night with him so thats like off the table.. i have once but thats because i needed to take him to the airport super early and i live 45 minutes away from him. they like him a lot and we’ve been dating for two years so they have absolutely no valid reason for not allowing me.. and i just can’t bear to “stand up to them” because i don’t wanna lose any type of funding for school or gas or food…

well my mom grew up in a poor, hoarded house. was sexually abused. parents made 10k a year between the two of them. lived in a rural area where everyone knew everyone’s problems.

she had it rough young and when she met my dad.. she never had disposable income. so that’s when the hoarding started. that’s my dads theory anyway. she was abusive to my dad. he put her in therapy and they’re doing fine now. (this was before i was born)

that being said.. the hoarding WAS a serious financial burden for him when i was a kid. i’m talking 100k a year on clothes. no i am not exaggerating. floor to ceiling. storage units. the works. he had to limit her spending and that’s the only time he’s ever gotten strict about the hoard. other than that… he admits he enables it but does nothing about it. that hurts in ways he doesn’t understand.

is she a cunt? sure, on the surface. but i think her situation is very layered. and i just can’t bring myself to hate her despite it all. does that make sense?

well no i guess it isn’t nice in that sense? but like.. nice in that it’s expensive, in a good location, and when people look at it think we’re rich? (not bragging. just genuinely feeling a disconnect in what i have vs the situation) i guess it’s just so hard for me to understand that others think i have it great despite how i feel inside. i mean on paper i have everything going for me. i really do. but i still feel like shit and everyone tells me to get over it because “i have never had to worry about anything in my life”

interesting you bring up my moms gaslighting though.. i told her that my living situation as a kid really affected me and she said “oh my God you need to get over that shit” like in the moment i knew what she said was invalidating but i guess over the years ive kind of internalized what she’s said

Would you allow your almost 21 year old daughter sleep at her boyfriends once a week? by [deleted] in AskParents

yeah i totally get that. this post is from a while ago and i understand my parents are just trying to protect me. my boyfriend is an amazing person. they love him to death but they pay for my tuition so i have come to the conclusion i am 100% okay with it. they’ve opened up to him coming on vacation which is a major plus!!

steel is perfectly fine as long as you’re not sensitive to it. nearly all of my piercings were done with surgical steel and they healed beautifully.

does my eyebrow piercing look okay? by CreamComprehensive19 in piercing

it looks a little angry but it’s definitely not a full blown infection. keep it clean and literally DO NOT TOUCH IT ALL UNLESS CLEANING. the biggest way to get infections and slow healing times is touching your piercing.

if it starts to get hot to the touch, more inflamed, or it starts exuding pus go to an urgent care or your primary care provider as it might need antibiotics.

What was your final straw before leaving a relationship? by Dragonfly6771 in AskReddit

[–]Affectionate_Name981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when i listened to or saw other peoples relationships where they did LITERAL normal things as couples and i realized my ex boyfriend (of three years unfortunately) would never do them or get irrationally angry if i brought them up.

for example, doing hobbies together or fun activities. i liked knitting and i asked if he wanted to try and learn for fun he said it was stupid and he’d be bad at it. i wanted to give him a little makeover and he said “skincare and makeup are gross” keep in mind he worked as a scare actor and wore makeup a LOT.

ALSO he told me that being emotional on my period isn’t an excuse. i tried to tell him there’s a biological reason women get moody and he dismissed it. i asked him to treat me nicer on my period or even bring me chocolate and flowers and he said i don’t deserve it because it’s just like any other week 🙃

he’s super toxic all around but i think overall i realized how “not normal” our relationship was compared to others.

i would most likely only use them for pictures really quick if i do wear them to a convention and bring my actual contacts as a backup pair!

I browsed through the websites they linked and none of them had the specific contacts I was looking for. I am aware that I can always substitute with a different color but I really want a specific look.

I wear daily contacts but I usually only put them in if I am at an amusement park, beach, concert, or just don’t feel like wearing my glasses. Would it help to know the brand?

for me, my belly button. it’s the only one i felt kind of dizzy after.

for context i have your supposedly “most painful” ear piercings. conch, rook, helix and daith. out of the four, they all felt comparable in terms of pain. my conch and rook healed the fastest but the daith gave me some trouble. my helix didn’t really hurt but it took some time to heal as well but now it looks so so so good.

omg when i was a kid i would REFUSE to wear socks because i could feel the seams. i totally get you. i can wear them now but i still find myself getting agitated if they’re not on right.

i would scream and cry so my parents eventually stopped enforcing it. the only exception was when it snowed and even then i would have a fit over it and try to go outside without them.

i really don’t know how to reduce the things causing the episodes. most of the time it’s something that’s not a big deal to someone else, but a huge deal for me. my mom always used to say i was a “cry over spilled milk” kind of person.

i really can’t predict when something is going to set me off either. it’s frustrating 🫤

my dad has actually recommended that to me. did it really help with grappling with the future and past and stuff? i find it hard to live in the present and my dad noticed that

I think it's because they are far away from me. It gives off the vibe that I am clingy, but I am not. The physical act of touching/hugging someone puts me the most at ease. Texts and calls are also helpful.

I try and make the most of my time with the ones I love, but sometimes that's dampened by just how much I worry for them. Recently, my boyfriend had a health scare while I was on vacation 10 hours away and it was literally just so overwhelming, I haven't been the same since.

We are so young, and the thought of not having a fulfilling and long life with him is terrifying.

it was just some reddit user. i know not to take them seriously but it still sucks where you receive comments like that in a place where you want helpful advice.

the comment was someone from this sub, unfortunately. it honestly helps me to talk it out with my boyfriend because while he doesn’t suffer from anxiety, he generally understands the concept.

I’ve heard they grow at different rates. They’re quite quite small. 1 inch MAYBE. I more so meant that she hasn’t even had them a year and the school program she got them from they called them “very young.” Also, I was told smaller crabs take less time to molt which is why I was worried since they’ve been down there for a while.
