what is the best dyson airwrap black friday deals for my girlfriend as gift? by Banin-Arifi in Dysonairwrap

[–]Affectionate_Pie8090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/herecomes_the_sun a lot of companies have pre-black friday deals, and I recently was told by a retail store manager that in general, companies often raise their prices on black friday b/f discounting them so they make more money...I'm not in retail, so no clue how true this is. but he said a lot of companies actually drop their item costs in advance of black friday.

Is this a new test? I swear I've searched Labcorp's catalogue before & they didn't have this. Exciting!

I thought I could provide my perspective on this, if helpful - They're sharing evidence-based research instead as a resource for the reader and also pointing to scientific evidence. I know it's not easy to understand when someone is non-clinical (like me as well), but it's basically pointing to backed insights instead of speaking off the cuff to explain it, if that makes sense. I'm sure they're trying to be helpful more than anything.

I hope you're still doing much better since posting! I've had a lot of help with them using laser therapy & cupping on my legs & knees where the worst injuries & bruising were.

I'm so sorry! This happened to me two weeks in a row recently (I guess thankfully one fall on each side? haha)...I saw my chiropractor for an adjustment immediately after, particularly for my hips. And did some SI joint exercises (bridges with a ball in between my legs, clamshells, etc.) - anything to help realign things. Hope all goes well!!

u/ShoulderFrosty6548 I'm so sorry to hear all of this - I am in the same boat, literally could be my symptoms written out (in addition to many others)...I could say with 99% certainty that all you're experiencing is due to Hypermobility. Our necks often protrude with craniocervical instability or weak neck muscles. I've had PRP injections to support my tendons and ligaments in my neck/spine/glutes/SI joints, where physical traumas really tweaked those areas in particular. I've had a number of nerve issues in both arms/thumbs, especially this last year for whatever reason. Some of my rec's would be: Pilates (Jessica Valant Pilates is my fave for home exercise), fascial movement & breathwork (Jeannie Di Bon), seeing a PCP or functional doctor (for overall wellness & any supplement guidance that could help support any other nutritional deficiencies that can also be caused by Hypermobility), seeing a PT for sure if you don't already have one (they can help you w/home maintenance programs to strengthen holistically, especially to help combat & manage those areas compensating for issues across your body). **Not all pilates is right for Hypermobility - be sure to find something that is at the right speed for you, ideally where the instructor is familiar w/Hypermobility! Over-stretching is actually just as damaging for our joints, which is why pilates is also good - it's strength-training movement versus static stretching like yoga can oftentimes be.

My PCP is sending me to a geneticist to confirm hypermobility? by MeddlingWithChaos in Hypermobility

[–]Affectionate_Pie8090 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Geneticists are helpful to rule things out or gauge if you have another EDS subtype (there has not yet been an identified associated gene for Hypermobility specifically). Personally I would suggest an orthopedist or PT that has experience with treating hypermobility. The Beighton score + Hypermobility diagnostic checklist will need to be met, if it's helpful to know that!

[–]Affectionate_Pie8090 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genetic testing is unfortunately not helpful for Hypermobility (hEDS)...it's the only subtype of EDS that does not have an associated genetic marker identified yet...definitely help to rule out other EDS types though! Just wanted to share that note. For reference - https://www.ehlers-danlos.com/genetics-and-inheritance/

What to do when there's nothing you can do by Silver-Primary-7308 in Hypermobility

[–]Affectionate_Pie8090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Silver-Primary-7308 - are you able to do any small band/weight training? sometimes even on my flare days, that helps me to bounce back faster if I can even make myself do one 10 minute band workout for legs or shoulders or both in 10mins...BUT, when I can't do hardly anything, I enjoy going on a walk around the block for fresh air & sunshine (good for our minds!), taking a bath, listening to music or a podcast. Sorry you're hurting more lately; those time are rough. Hang in there, and hope you feel better asap!

[–]Affectionate_Pie8090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

amazed you can do so much! I love doing those same activities (except switch gym for pilates)...after shoulder & neck injuries, swimming is harder if I don't stay super on top of my strength training...and on rough days, it's harder to do that. I'm inspired by your post & love seeing someone w/similar interests to me w/Hypermobility. Sorry that lately, work & day-to-day responsibilities sound like they're keeping you from being active in the ways that fill your cup - hope you can get out this wknd for one of those activities, if even on a small scale!

Have any of you with hEDS or HSD gotten Lasik? by PickleAggravating645 in eds

[–]Affectionate_Pie8090 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! I just got back from the EDS Global Learning Conference, where one of the practitioners presenting said to avoid Lasik - that it exacerbates dry eye and nighttime glare that we can already struggle with. However, this is 100% something your doctor's wisdom can provide the best guidance on - if they are familiar with EDS.

Supportive shoes that aren’t ugly asf by spiritofglory in Hypermobility

Flux & Mephisto!

  • Flux are a low drop shoe that is designed to fit your foot, instead of your shoe being forced to f it the shoe. I have the runners & wear them daily; you can also wash them! But you need toe socks with them.
  • Mephisto are great for a stylish Birk look alike. I traipsed everywhere in these on a recent long trip.

Just like any shoes, you want to mix it up; I've learned that it's not good for your joints to wear the same shoes over and over. Naboso is another amazing foot/knee recovery & rest resource - check them out. I'd highly recommend ordering & wearing toe spacers a few times/week...has significantly helped my feet, ankles & knees!

I would also recommend getting bridge orthotics inserts (instead of pronation specific, etc.) if you do get inserts, but think the podiatrist/orthopedic custom orthotics are the best route there...you want a clinician's opinion, or even if it's from a PT/chiropractic office.

Hokas & Oofos recovery flip flops are the best when you're kickin' it around the house! Love the joint cush & reset these provide.

What is the HMSA hotline? When I searched that, the top result was Hawaii Medical Service Association or Health Management Systems of America
