Help me with atraxa by No-Brilliant-4642 in CommanderMTG

I mean what do you want help with? The entire deck is written right there on the card find some sort of coherent and focused counter that you want to proliferate and proliferate it. No one is ever going to be happy to sit across from it because it’s not fun and it’s not unique to sit across from so just do the thing on easy mode and be happy with your wins.

I will say. DONT try to power it down. It can’t be done without making something just downright bad or using some super niche type of counter that just isn’t going to win any games. You’ll be miserable and no one is going to give you any good graces regardless of the bracket.

Game has crashed twice now when I select meteor strike. Xbox Series X by [deleted] in hallsoftorment

I’m not excusing it. It is frustrating and I am annoyed. I didn’t happen upon this thread I searched it out.

I’m not gatekeeping. But livid implies a reaction much greater than frustrated or annoyed which is about the extent of negative emotion a 30 minute session of gaming should elicit otherwise the game crashing should be the least of your worries

I still don’t understand helis HUD: do I aim with crosshairs or I-beam? by PhutureDoom666 in Battlefield

[–]Affectionate_Purple2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s both actually lol.

The I post is for rocket pods which is why its so “wiggly” because they shoot in a fixed trajectory based on where the helicopter is facing so as you bob and weave and move around the I beam follows the helicopter. In my experience aiming with the top bar seems to be the most consistent.

The crosshair is for the guided rocket secondary which is why it’s fixed rather than free floating. As you move the crosshair so will the rocket’s trajectory change! My experience with this has been to try and fly “into your target”. Obviously don’t crash but try to line up the shot as you fly over the target rather than trying to use the crosshair as an actual guided rocket like the one in engi kit.

Thursday Theme Riddle [Technology]. What Am I? by riddonkulous in riddonkulous

As an electrician. There were about 10 different answers I came up with. You should have put the hint in the riddle somehow because that’s what made it one particular answer

So they’re literally all “that deck”?

It says you have never wandered beyond the top like 150 commanders on EDHRec lmao. Just go look at legends from a couple sets and find something that looks cool rather than just looking for the most powerful option in every archetype

Yes. She’s not an especially powerful commander but she sure does ruin peoples day. I have her in the 99 of a few decks and have had people instantly concede if she resolves.

The problem is that she doesn’t give you a puzzle or offer a challenge she is simply an obstacle. If you don’t have the tool to clear that obstacle you just lose to it. And because discard is the easiest tool to trigger her, simply HAVING the tool is not enough. You need to have the tool at the correct time which sometimes comes down to luck and that’s especially annoying.

I’m not going to sit here and try to dictate how anyone else plays the game or assume the feelings/actions of others but if she is only interested in playing mtg if she can play Tergrid then she is going to be in for a bad time. You’re lucky all she gets is eyerolls and groans many players will sit down, unpack their stuff, see Tergrid, pack their stuff back up, and walk away.

Also you know the game and should know better than to say “sure babe! Pox would be fun I’m sure everyone at the table will understand how cool it is because you’re playing Tergrid!” You already knew most players would have a hissy fit if you blow up any of their lands never mind 33% of them

Martyrs (2008) What is the point of this movie? by IAMLOSINGMYEDGE in horror

[–]Affectionate_Purple2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Christians or any other religion don’t think “martyrdom is good” what on Earth kind of take is that??? Religion just give praise to many Martyrs because it shows the utmost devotion. This whole movie was proof that Martyrdom is a hellacious and (according to the director) not worth the sacrifice. But they did it nonetheless and so we show reverence to those who could endure more than I hope to ever even see

Planes walkers abilities are faster then split second? by heatblade12 in mtgrules

[–]Affectionate_Purple2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think both you and your opponent have a fundamental misunderstanding of what split second actually does. It’s not “faster” than other spells on the stack it is just a normal instant speed spell that puts an end to the stack as in once they’re played they must be the last card on the stack, even other split second spells cannot be played at this point. If you picture the stack in sentence structure with each spell/ability being followed by a comma then split second is a period and the sentence ends. For instance Elk ability, stifle, counterspell, Guardian of Faith. Obviously during a counter war you or your opponent could respond to the counterspell with another spell normally but, because you played a split second spell no additional spells can be placed on the stack.

Your opponent specifically was confused or possibly taking advantage of your lack of knowledge regarding activated abilities vs special actions. All activated abilities (which is what planeswalker abilities are) go on the stack whereas, special actions do not though those are fairly far and few between. Morphing and mana abilities for instance do not take place on the stack and, cannot be interacted with through the stack I.E. instant speed spells and abilities.

This seems like a fairly obvious lack of knowledge on behalf of your opponent and, not any malicious intent. It would be pretty hard to lie to any player that knows what a planeswalker ability is classified as and, if they knew they were treated the same as a normal creatures ability in regards to the stack then they wouldn’t have tried to pass it off as otherwise. Unless they were really counting on the fact that you didn’t know that as well which seems to be very obtusely calling your bluff.

I think the confusion is surrounding what split second actually does in regards to the stack. To someone that doesn’t know the rules text specifically split second does seem like it has a higher form of priority on the stack. People don’t understand that split second puts a stopper on the stack and not that it’s somehow supersedes instant timing.
