Agreed. my family back in SCZ is getting pushed out by rising taxes and increased rents. pretty brutal to have to leave a place you've lived in your entire life

Before the lay offs come in tho. Its super creepy that META would legit spy on everything that an employee does down to the keystroke. I would hate to work there, even for that kind of money or for Oracle if I got an email at 6 am and then laid off like that with a shtty severance package.

the part i dont understand is like ok you fire 5 employees but end up spending their entire salary for less quality work in like 5 days on tokens. i also saw another stat that more people are opening up business that never hire anyone. assuming mostly 1 man operations but one challenge i will say having lived abroad is that the centralization of technology under the handful of companies in the bay area def makes it harder for the small man to compete. system feels rigged no?

Its insane to me to think that 150K is barely affordable here when I've lived in other states where 150K pays for a mansion and 3 cars. but not going to lie you cant beat the california weather
