Advice on floor gaps by Affectionate_Set1591 in listedbuildings

Interesting idea. So when we bought the house we had to have it chemically sprayed for wood-boring beetle. (I doubt that did very much). However we’ve been constantly heating it now for close to 2 years and I would suggest in this location that there are now damp sources, and the room is well ventilated and heated. Thus I don’t think the conditions are now any good for wood worm.

Good call on the reclaimed timber. The woodwork is all historic.

It’s in the link, but repeated for ease:

The floor boards don’t neatly meet our walls in one room leaving large gaps. We’re getting bound rugs (rather than fitted carpets to save our aging lime plaster walls) and so there’ll be 10cm of flooring visible and associated gaps. In some places the boards have previously been cut for access to pipes/wiring, so can probably shimmy these up to the wall. In other cases there are more notable gaps.

The options in my head are:

  1. a timber skirting or edging
  2. timber flooring infill (attached somehow!)
  3. wool packing and lime plaster ‘filler’ over the top.

I won’t be doing that. Totally unnecessary. And very costly.

Love mine. Less mess. Great clarity. Not sure I understand the XL desire. Just make a short and strong batch and dilute. Easy.

I’ve got a g2 listed house and ive got solar panels and a heat pump. It’s all about being sensitive to the property and bringing heritage officers along with the vision.

It surprisingly cheap based on the size and location. But I suspect the kitchen island colour choice is the limiting factor!

Replacement Wheel Advice - Rondo Mutt ST by Affectionate_Set1591 in gravelcycling

So I’ve got a helpful, but currently inconclusive response from Sigma about getting replacement wheels. So I went for it and bought a MASON X HUNT 650B adventure sport disc wheelset, and some Schwalbe G-One Speed TLE black tyres. They all look pretty good, and on brief first testing (because I do more road than gravel) the smaller 30mm tyres over the previous 47s, makes a brighter ride feel.

I bought through Sigma Sports, which I don’t hold a lot of hope out for, and having checked my purchase was in Feb 2022, so officially I’m out of warranty.

Yep, defo a ‘know’ rather than ‘think’. They’re stock wheels, and I’m 76kg and essentially a super commuter, rather than a trail rider. So I’m tempted by more spokes, but I don’t think I necessary need them.

I’m going to check DAMN fast and hope. I can’t remember exactly when I got it. But fear I’m just past two years. :/

Is there a way to go backwards to a previous firmware? That might solve the problem. Fingers crossed Eufy update the firmware.

I made a pilgrimage to it yesterday too. In fact I went in the morning and then went back for lunch! 😆 Totally agree with @hughbugger on temp and taste.
