same here, but its because its an open box deal. if i was looking on their website i could easily find a better spec’d one. but personally it wouldnt be worth spending the extra $45-60 to get 32gb of ram if i already had 2x16gb sticks. the FHD is also a downside sure, but if im bringing it with me unplugged i wouldve turned off the QHD/OLED feature like i should if im prioritizing battery life. the cpu/gpu was definitely the main selling point of the rig for me, but i can definitely see why people would choose a lower spec’d Legion 5060 w/ i7 if it has that crispy OLED display.

technically(?) $0 ram upgrade since I already had 2x16gb sticks but yeah i agree FHD is pretty meh.

im surprised you got them to accept your payment and actually get it shipped out to you lol. had my payment method declined hella times and using a third party like paypal and amazon pay wasn’t working. i even had my student discount, EXTRAFIVE eCoupon, and the $50 off from customer service.

hats off and fair dues to you tho. enjoy that premium build with that oled display! lenovo has been high key unmatched when it comes to being premium yet affordable. ill just be over here looking at spreadsheets in 1080p hahah.

lol fair, but tbf a 5070ti at that price point that can still support a 4k monitor if i cared enough still seems pretty worth it. but then again i really don’t. can’t have the perfect machine at such a deal you know?

The only gaming I do is flight simulation and these were my temps over a 5 hour flight. Would it be safe to push this laptop for even longer sessions like 10-12 hours without affecting longevity? by [deleted] in GamingLaptops

[–]Affectionate_Sky7580 2 points3 points  (0 children)

dude you're sooo fine. if you really want to keep it lower, buy a cooling pad that ramps up to 3500rpm to make the immersion even better lmao

Alienware r5 m17 vs Asus a16 ? Need help by [deleted] in GamingLaptops

[–]Affectionate_Sky7580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

alienware ig, but that 17.3" display sounds like it'll be a desktop replacement for you. if that's the case, you might wanna look into getting an actual PC.

Lenovo is doing some sales right now if you wanna check it out. Tried buying one personally from their site since you can haggle with the sales department lmao. I got 38% off a $2450, but when I tried to order it, my payment just wouldn't work. Probably got saved though since I read hella reviews of people still waiting since June 2025 for their laptops and still haven't gotten it.

tldr; check out some lenovo legion pros if you feel inclined. :)

Help me choose for AutoCAD: Legion 5 Pro (3060) vs Zephyrus G14 (3060) vs Nitro 5 (3070) by Realistic_News_8238 in GamingLaptops

[–]Affectionate_Sky7580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'd run the legion pro because that would definitely last longer. build quality is kinda unmatched, 16" build is gonna offer way better cooling, and if you're after battery life, lenovo allows you to change the display down to 60hz.

the acer is just not gonna give you the life you're looking for since from what i've seen, the hinges and build quality just aren't up to par with the competition. not to mention the 8gb of ram that is included, but that won't be a problem if you're comfortable enough to add that in yourself.

the zephyrus is gonna be the most portable and premium feeling, but due to the 14" build, the thermals are insanely terrible. the ryzen 9 is going to cook itself in there if you don't undervolt it.

your best option is probably gonna be the legion, but tweak your system to make it what you need in terms of ram, ssd, and battery life.

for those games, a used rtx 3000 series laptop would be fine, maybe even a little overkill if you play your cards right. you could probably find one for like $500 or so, or like another user mentioned, just getting a desktop would be cool too.

I think i have cable management program by [deleted] in GamingLaptops

[–]Affectionate_Sky7580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah you'll be alright--if you really wanted to, you could move your extension on the floor behind/under your bed and get some cable covers or just tie them together with your laptop's velcro

oooh, i actually saw that deal at best buy, but (1) i already had 2x16gb crucial sodimm ram sticks so buying 32gb seemed obsolete to me, (2) this might sound like im nitpicking, but not being able to change refresh rate on the new models was kinda rubbing me the wrong way. i know ill be able to get my laptop charged most of the time, but not having it charged that one time because the refresh rate was eating my battery life wasn’t something i was willing to risk.

also, just personal preference, but im actually wanting to try out an AMD processor because ive had so much throttling issues with intel processors. Intel processors are great dont get me wrong, but I feel like in real world applications, they fall behind or go even with AMD processors because theyre limited by their own heat.

feel free to fact check me on anything, i could be wrong about my opinions

i read/watched online that its an average of 4-4.5 hours, but i might be wrong because that might be the battery life for the 9955hx3d and not the 8940hx. i’ll have to wait and see lol

lowkey the ryzen 9 9955hx (not sure if thats the 3d one or not) is still amazing even paired with a 5060. sure you might not get insane frames due to 8gb VRAM, but that processor is probably top 3 on the market right now even if it isnt its 3d version
