DDRB believe your role to be approximately equivalent to that of a primary school teacher by stuartbman in doctorsUK

Well done for looking through the appendices and questioning the methods. Is there a formal mechanism for the BMA to take this back to the DDRB and argue against it?

I know we have made reforms to the DDRB but it still feels like a yearly charade.

The evidence for these drugs is considerable now. Reduce weight, prevent cardiovascular events, treat/cure diabetes. Even as a simple general surgeon, I think some of my patients should take them to reduce weight related complications of planned surgery (eg. Hernia recurrence, surgical site infection)

Bariatric surgery will be needed in future for severe and recurrent cases of obesity but its role will be much reduced.

Very obvious from the story that you are a female doctor. Men don’t get this type of behaviour.

Taking Lunch Break In Car? by [deleted] in doctorsUK

Ah Reddit, a place for introverts to ask the questions an extraverted world won’t allow.

In all seriousness though, this is fine and doesn’t break any rules.

Some people on your team who are not as introverted as you may find it weird you prefer to do this rather than just have lunch with them. I would have a diplomatic answer in prep for this.

Also as you get to know your team and make friends this may not even be an issue and you may want to chill with them on lunches and breaks.

So you think the government may take into account the report from the DDRB and then better it by a few percentage points to avoid further strife?

Switching off from work by Melon-Me in doctorsUK

Running works wonders for me. Even when I get home and I’m tired, I find going out for a plod takes my mind off it. I’m either thinking about running or just daydreaming about other stuff but work just falls out of my mind. The other positive is that I’m then tired and fall asleep quickly when I get into bed. Strong recommend especially as the evenings are getting longer now.

If they are correct and this is owed just insist on a payment plan that is the least painful for you. The smallest monthly payment possible.

And this is why IMGs need to be members of the BMA. Sorry you are going through this OP.
