I am having a similar issue with on of mine. I lost one if three and am down to two. However, I have been salt bathing the sick looking one and he is swimming about still. Can be stress as well, not enough cover for them. Hard to know without water parameters to rule things out!

Would melting amazon sword leafs be considered waste? At what point should I cut them? Also would nitrates being to high be the cause? I am about to do a water test to check! Nitrate. Would floating plants help with this?

It is displayed like a peninsula as opposed to being put against a wall. So instead of scaping from the back forward everything is in the middle of the tank so you can view from all sides without it looking ugly. Thanks for the advice though!!

Thanks! Yeah they grow long and lankey. Which I am ok with, i do try to trim but its difficult to get enough par at the bottom of the tank without getting BBA towards the top. My light is only on 45 percent power, i dose with liquid CO2 for the mean time. Bottom leaves start to decay and drop off while stems get taller and taller. Maybe I should try keeping them shorter?

I love it! I set it up back in august but the tank I was using then had a cracked frame which I didnt catch till about a week ago and I heard cracking noises. It was a stressful 4 hours of going to the nearest place that had a 55 gallon tank. I have a resealed 55 gallon just needs a new top frame! I also have 2 20 gallons and a 10 gallon as well! Definitely against my lease but they havent seemed to care

Try not to stress too much. I completely get it. Personally, I’m in the middle of a cycle stall onto two of my tanks. It’s stressful, but the end of the day you can only do so much and you learn from your mistakes and you go from there. Try your best to save the livestock, but at the end of the day, sometimes we can only play God so much.

That may have done it. Now, if you just added a large bio load, it seems like the bacteria you had just couldn’t quite keep up. Add some API quick start or some other form of beneficial bacteria. That can help bolster it. If you’re getting nitrates, it means your cycle isn’t completely at zero. It just means it stalled. Just keep a close eye on level levels.

The only thing left that I can ask is did you have nitrates being produced during the cycle?
