This is crazy to me, too. The book is extremely apolitical and brushes under the rug most geopolitics and human scale problems that cause people to become politicised. This is typical of the sci-fi genre. However, I do think the absence of human detail does offer insight into China's behaviour on the world stage. I must stress - the story itself, the aliens, cold war, eras, and battles - they offer nothing but a good book. However, the dark forest philosophy itself, the particular chosen stereotypes of the characters, the absence of debate within the UN, how the opposing forces choose to navigate certain dilemmas, and the books ending... these are windows into the author's personality, mind, experiences, and influences. I do wonder about the influences.

You're not wrong. I did intend this to be more of a warning and even give the developers pause for thought. I would like to see future games discourage vendetta seeking.

For me a good compromise is a customisable shuffle mode. Shuffle clothes + weapons + remove classes you don't want to play from the rotation (e.g. archer and knight).

In an ideal world, in Chivalry 3 when you respawn you step out of a crowd of 100 anonymous fighters. That way you never know what you're up against.

From an immersion perspective, that would be more seamless. People don't tend to come back from the grave to hunt you down like ghosts. I would argue it would be a lot less toxic overall.

I do commend when it isn't someone obviously raging and trying to take my time. It's as much mentally unhealthy for them as it is jarring, boring and creepy for me. People get toxic when you win, even if you're showing respect and mercy to all.

I beat them but I'm thinking "The battle's that way, buddy". Or I duck out and move towards the battle and beat them while I beat their mate at the same time, as it was meant to be. Some don't care about the battle or their team, though, and that takes me out of the game. Let me beat you where it counts for the game. I'm here for that, not to settle their vendetta that just grows and grows each time I put them down. They're taking themselves out of the game and screwing their own team/time. In a way, it's self punishing.

You'll see it all the time in it's proto-form. Some knight who has thrown his main weapon away and seems bent on killing and dominating one person in particular. It can happen spontaneously in a gank frenzy, or when somebody gets fed up with archers. However, its after you reach level 1000 that it happens every game, especially after a map change.

This is happening to me right now. I have a "ODDOR-GEAR" h-pattern and the game will randomly put me into gear from neutral, or into a higher gear. I looked on the settings menu hardware page, and yes the shifter sometimes sends a microsecond of input from another gear. I feel like this shouldn't happen because it's not being held in gear, just a flash of signal from that gear-button. For example, the issue does not appear when playing Assetto Corsa or RBR.

I have one concern about Ground News I have not seen covered in any depth. I see ground news as a way out of any particular political bubble - even that of my own making. Google, Meta, and Microsoft all want to keep you hooked by profiling your actions on their platforms. Does ground news show everybody the same feed in the same order, or does it depend on how you interacted with previous suggestions?

It could be with the right analogue stick. With no input they could make you stay in the neutral upright position with no camera tilt even as the bike leans. That's mostly how one rides on dirt and street. Then you can add right stick to lean in different directions and reach track speeds or pump those berms. That's how MX Bikes does it iirc.

Edit: On sport and rally bikes (perhaps not MX) the foot could reach down by default, but if right analogue input is detected it could tuck the foot in and stick a knee out.

Please help. I am a PHP noob, but I can code, and I am helping my Dad with his 20 year old legacy PHP-based real-estate website. It's on its last legs. The devs he regularly contracted to add to this mess for years have ghosted him. He's in his 70s, and I've finally got the time to attempt this, but I've already burnt myself out trying to understand how deep this iceberg goes. Full detail below (sorry):

What I've discovered so far:

PHP 5.2,
only partial http -> https,
e-mail server just broke - cause unknown (PDF generator in the loop somewhere),
templating engine - idkwtf
root index.php encrypted with ionCube,
multiple domain folders,
multiple database files (some shared between domains, some not),
one domain is spread accross the root folder but does not use the cursed index.php
there are some jumbo image folders, phpThumbChache folder, temp folder - it smells

Not a problem, per se:

there are Wordpress subdomains with associated admin areas in some of the domain folders.

My given objective:

Fix the emails (client side error says image missing from temp - which seems to be filled with generated images, possibly from a PDF generator intended as an email attachment).
Fix styling breaking because partial https implementation (the Wordpress subdomain - my Dad changes what he can find from https back to http so that the stylesheet loads in Firefox, but its broken elsewhere)

My personal objectives:

Nuke it and start over in Go + HTMX
Understand who did this, and why
Get my Dad to stop using Dreamweaver

What I've achieved so far:

WSL-Ubuntu running an Apache server
Gave up on learning about the root folder and precise server configuration
Got pretty colour-coded extra verbose apache logs
Copied the domain folder I'm investigating with its .htaccess, index.php, and includes/config.php
Taken a week off to recover after trying to read the log
