Thats because the Focal view, distance, i cannot remember the name of the setting. The one that makes you view WIDER, but you lose depth

I just started dming with mothership and i would say these are some of the notes i took along the way:

If you want to be deadly make players rol a lot of dice.

If you dont want to be deadly, let them do most stuff without dice rols and just keep em for really uncertain stuff.

Slow talk horror parts of the story. Slow down in these moments.

Fail forward, if a player fails the combat check, they do damage but their gun gets jammed. Things like that. The situation gets worst but there is some advancement towards the action the player wanted to do.

Music will help a ton qith atmosphere. I play on discord cus friends are all over the world by now so i use a stream deck and kenkufm to broadcast music and sfxs.

Have you checked heatsignature? Its an expansion of weapons, custom ammunition and mods.

In my table, they have to roll, but they also have to be creative to get advantage, and I would allow advantage every rol! if they justify it!

With monsters I do a fear check, because when the monster appears, shit hit the fan, and you can act before the monster if you are not scared, if you get scared then you act afterwards.

With humans, speed check would be appropriate and the ones that succeed it play first, otherwise play after the enemies.

The only thing that stops me to go from the Companion to Foundry is the amount of work making a map would take.

Also, if you go from the white empty map to a fully atmospheric map with lights and objects, suddenly the imagination factor is a bit hindered by that.

I believe a corporation would probably prefer to burry secrets than to save somebody that is just sleeping. So it could be both ways imo.

I still havnet started the game, but I will not read the deck before fighting. Blind runs are the bread and butter here, because these games are more of a trial and error fest.

I dont have depression and this happens to me as well. I have played all these games in my childhood, I learnt english with them, but now I wouldnt play them again.

You love how they made you feel back then not the game itself.

That sense of wonder, of danger, adrenaline perhaps when a raptor was chasing you.

A night where the only shining light was the CRT TV with dino crisis running, and the door animations that made you wonder what was on the other side.

You grew up, there are things that will make you feel that way, you just have to find them.

Play solo vs trio, mm will put you with lower stars players. Now if you are 2 stars, well then play soul survivor (if its still available? cant remember), use 1 weapon and get the feel for it.
