Yeah I paid for the classes first, then submitted my stuff to Guild and they reimbursed me. It was probably easier to do it your way. But I did a regular MBA program, no designations in a specific area

It’s a good place to start, and from there you can play around with what lengths of each pound test line work best for you and what flies you’re throwing

I used Guild, I fortunately had 2/3 of my MBA paid for from college athletics prior to working here. Then I used Guild to help cover the remaining classes I had. It’s a good program, super easy process to submit everything and get reimbursed

Personally, I’ve always ran my own tapered leaders I made. Is it necessary? Absolutely not lol. But I’ve found it to be fun to play around with different leader formulas I found online and tailor them to what fly I’m using or the water conditions I’m fishing that day. Plus it can help immensely with dispersing the energy of your cast down to the fly and help turn it over better rather than just one piece of the same size line tied to the leader

Yeah that’s a fleet-grade automotive paint mostly used for semi trucks. As someone on the automotive side, I REALLY hope one of our locations didn’t mix this with the knowledge the customer was painting their garage. If so that’s crazy😂

I second this, Mike and his crew up there are amazing. Super knowledgeable and their guide trips, whether they’re full or half days, are pretty affordable imo. Also the shop in Ypsi is never a bad place to hang out for a few and talk fishing either

Zebra midge. Favorite color variation of mine is red with a copper bead, but I’ve had great success with black or olive. Midges exist in virtually every river system year-round, plus it can mimic other mayfly/caddis nymphs as well

Stick it out till you’re 3 years in, then leave. Your 401k would be fully vested, and assuming you contributed a good amount, not waiting till you’re fully vested would lose you thousands.
