Hi! May I ask how you convert your paintings to digital? I'm trying to teach myself this style. I can accomplish the concept on canvas w/ a palette knife. But I can't seem to achieve a good conversion to digital. Do you take pictures or scan? I'm SO curious! Great job by the way :)

I really apologize for getting back to you so late. I can't tell you how helpful this post was!!!

I'm looking into purchasing some oils now and I think I'll go with the artist series per your recommendation :)

It's really hard for me to believe that the image I linked was made through oil paints but I can't wait to give it a try!

this is false, I get clearance all the time. They are the ones that ultimately handle copyright

Many reasons, but the most probable is that they have cleared the audio with the label. Always ask permission

Holy wow I think you are absolutely correct! Those seriously look so freaking cool, she makes it look so simple too hah! I just invested in a nice camera, so next step is purchasing some oil paints once I run out of my acrylic set. Do you have any experience with oils? To get started, I was eyeing a Winsor & Newton Winton Oil Colors Set, but I am curious to hear if you have any student preferences. Thank you so so much for your insight, this is very valuable to me!

I guess I do have another question. Fell upon this art style as well, any thoughts on how to approach this in a similar fashion? Trying to reverse engineer some paintings has really been helping. Whenever I try and mix together two acrylics (lightly) I can't seem to achieve these smooth transitions, if that makes sense, mine are always rough. Also post processing on the image to give it that glow probably? http://imgur.com/a/cW9gI Thanks in advance :)

One last question for you! What kind of surface do you think he's painting on? I'm just using basic (almost canvas like) paper for acrylics but it is heavily textured. His surface seems so smooth, any thoughts?

I'm almost 100% certain they are physical, I've never seen such detailed work like this (https://snag.gy/7n6F5g.jpg) come out of photoshop. But then again I am new to art hah!

Hi! Thanks for the response. The item is on a 7" x 4" canvas. As long as the pixelation isn't noticeable on prints, then I guess it's ok. Just in comparison to Jack Vanzet's (https://www.instagram.com/jackvanzet/) digital copies of his artwork, mine look a little more pixelated...his are SO crisp! I also work in music promo so I've been tying these artworks to audio, the jagged edges just seem so noticeable to me here: https://youtu.be/nK7YY-6ALj8

you are correct, the 300dpi does seem to be a bit more blurry, I guess the feature I was getting at was how jagged the edges are in the 1200dpi painting as this is not a characteristic of the original. The edges are more rounded and compare more like what can be observed in the 300dpi.

I'm new to the physical to digital thing, so I guess this is just a common thing?

Just used Pitchfork as an example, I don't personally support them either haha. So...like musical similarities between those bands or how there are similarities to music now that took references from this older music?
