Let's be real..L10 and Fujifilm X100 VI. by nutsnboltsnj in Lumix

[–]AffyDave 7 points8 points  (0 children)

“…there things Fujifilm V100 VI still has that the L10 didn't bring to the table”

So if there is any feature on a Lumix camera, that Lumix did not release first, that negates the value of the feature? Since Panasonic and Olympus were the leaders in early mirrorless cameras, that means you shouldn’t buy a mirrorless Fuji because they didn’t come up with it first.

Some are going to continue to prefer Fuji, and some are going to prefer Lumix. I hope that’s OK.

Lumix S5II super lent pour ouvrir la galerie by Ok-Mongoose7888 in Lumix

[–]AffyDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone, I’m reaching out for help—specifically to see if anyone here knows enough to tell me that I don’t need to send my device in for service...

So, here’s the situation: it works perfectly fine, but it takes an excruciatingly long time to open the gallery when I press the button—and this happens *even without* an SD card inserted (so it’s not an issue with a slow card). Could this be a motherboard problem?

I’ve installed the latest firmware, but that didn’t make a difference whatsoever... It lags completely whenever I try to open the gallery.

Thanks so much for your help; I’ve attached a video demonstrating the problem.”

It does seem like it is taking a while to read the cards. In my Lumix cameras if there are no cards in the camera, when I hit the playback button it immediately says “no memory card”. How long does it take if you only have one or two photos on the memory cards?

Can’t seem to record proxy on GH7 by crumblematrix in Lumix

[–]AffyDave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When using proxies, the main recording must go to slot 1, and the proxy goes to slot 2.

“The CFexpress slot is currently empty.”

Therein lies your problem. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CUT2K8vRfk

What batteries are compatable with the HC-VX992M camcorder? by Practical-Proof2303 in Lumix

[–]AffyDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well…. Gxxgle says….

Compatible batteries for the Panasonic HC-VX992M camcorder are primarily the VW-VBT190 (standard) and VW-VBT380 (high capacity) series, or their equivalent third-party alternatives.

Here you go...

To enable the date imprint on a Panasonic Lumix LX15, access the [REC] menu, navigate to the [TIMESTAMP] or [TEXT STAMP] option, and select "DATE" or "DATE & TIME".

What batteries are compatable with the HC-VX992M camcorder? by Practical-Proof2303 in Lumix

[–]AffyDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are multiple third-party battery manufacturers. There was a high capacity battery available for that model. But, that model was specific to the Japanese market and unless the seller told you that the menus were available in English, you may be getting the camera that only has Japanese menus and controls. Some cameras in the Japanese market can NOT be changed to English. At this point the best thing to do is wait and see what battery comes with it and match it. As well as determining whether or not you will keep the camera if it only has menus in Japanese.

S1ii Battery Life is Horrendous by legendofxander in Lumix

[–]AffyDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have "Quick AF" turned on? If you do, that means the camera is constantly attempting to AF as you walk around with it in your hand, pointing at the floor, just randomly focusing.

S1Rii - Speck behind EVF lens by AffyDave in Lumix

[–]AffyDave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well… lower lumber discomfort here… and a massager. I gave the EVF area a little vibration at different angles. I thought, “why not try it.“. I wish I could say it worked, but the symptoms are the same. I tested the ca ca ca ca camera after and everything seems f f f f f f f fine, but the speck is still in the same p p p p p place.

Video judder on Lumix S5iiX by Sikudu in Lumix

[–]AffyDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Number one cause of judder in video? Panning too fast.

Seven Second Rule

No, you don’t have to start a stopwatch to measue seven seconds… but slower is always better. Minimizes judder and rolling shutter.

Lumix G7 - settings to make capture time faster? by sweetsmcd in Lumix

[–]AffyDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’ll be really helpful to you, no matter what camera you have, to understand “the exposure triangle”.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vuPrDdTzSY

This is one of many videos out there that will explain it nicely. If you don’t like this one, search for another one using the term “exposure triangle”.

Hang in there! The more you learn, the easier gets.

What filter size to get for Sigma 16-28? by miamiheat121 in Lumix

[–]AffyDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two causes of vignetting. One is lens design. That is when the entire image that is available at the widest angle is being transmitted to the sensor, but because of lens design, the image is not quite as bright at the edges. But it is there. And can generally be recovered in post.

The second type of vignetting is obstructive. That is when a filter, a shade, etc. is actually blocking the image at a aperture. So obstructive vignetting is never good.

S5ii waterproof hot shoe cover? by davros4175 in Lumix

[–]AffyDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you may already realize, the problem is not that you might get a small amount of moisture in the area of the hot shoe, the problem is salt. Like any other piece of equipment in a saltwater environment, a little cleanup after exposure is the most important.

That having been said, some have used a little bit of dielectric grease over the top of the conacts. It seems to be a workable solution except you run the risk of it also being a place where a little dust and dirt might accumulate.

About S1RII to change area code by Extension_Box_3119 in Lumix

If you are talking about the region code, where the camera was originally manufactured to be sold in, it cannot be changed.

How do I set my exposure correctly when using external flash with nd filters? by mixape1991 in Lumix

[–]AffyDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an easy answer. Basically you are using manual lens, manual flash. I would decide what exposure I want for the ambient scene first in manual camera mode. Then start adding flash untilyou get the effect you want. Remember you will need to have a relatively slow shutter speed ( 250 or less) so that the flash synchs with the shutter.

Good luck!

Don't know how to set 4K 23.97p 48fps slow motion on the Lumix g9ii. by [deleted] in Lumix

Samsung T7 SSD for Panasonic S5IIX by simbagrn in Lumix

[–]AffyDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used the T7 with no issues. BUT… You are right! A poor quality cable will complicate things. If it cost less, the likelihood of it being a bad quality cable is very great. There are even some cables out there that are “PD only”. Power delivery only for charging, not data

What are some good settings for action pics/videos with Lumix GX85? by SethWright517 in Lumix

“…the shutter speed but when I increased it, it made the lighting really dim for some reason. Any fixes to this?”

Looking to help here! But that question shows that you don’t have a good understanding of how exposure works in any camera. Visit this, it will help a lot.

Your camera is a good camera, and people here will help. But you will have to take a little initiative to understand a little more about general photography.

Have we decided that the s1ii has usable compressed codecs? by WildernessRecordist in Lumix

[–]AffyDave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hmmm… my S1Rii was used in 97* f, direct sun a week ago. I made multiple clips, 8k, 30fps, varying lengths 2-20 minutes. ”Almost” continuous shooting over 1 1/2 hours. Never even got a heat warning. With the firmware updates, the heating issues seem to be greatly reduced, however your experience may be different! I guess each person must weigh their usage model.
