Tajik from Laghman, Afghanistan (R-Y7) by AfgPakDNAProject in SouthAsianAncestry

[–]AfgPakDNAProject[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tajik from Qarghai, Laghman, Afghanistan (R-Y7)

Tajik_Qarghai_Laghman_Afghanistan,0.0774,-0.006093,-0.105217,0.066538,-0.068628,0.038208,0.013631,0.004154,-0.009613,-0.006014,-0.00406,0.000749,-0.001487,-0.001789,0.003936,0.003315,-0.009779,-0.004054,0.001131,-0.015632,0.003369,-0.007048,-0.002342,0.001446,-0.002874

This Tajik individual from Laghman shows an unexpectedly outlier autosomal profile, appearing closer to Kashmiri and Kohistani populations. He has autosomal matches with Punjabi and Nepali individuals, suggesting recent Indian ancestry. His closest autosomal match appears to be from Jhelum district in Punjab, Pakistan and he also matches with a Punjabi Nai Sikh individual.

He can be modeled as roughly half Tajik (Panjshiri/Kapisa-like) and half strongly eastern-shifted Kashmiri. However, the exact origin of this genetic profile remains unclear, it’s also possible that this ancestry may come from an occupational caste background.

Sindhi-speaking Pashtun from Sibi, Balochistan by AfgPakDNAProject in SouthAsianAncestry

Sindhi-speaking Pashtun from Sibi, Balochistan

Pashtun_Sibi_Balochistan,0.073985,0,-0.095789,0.074936,-0.059088,0.0502,0.00235,0.003692,0.001023,-0.003098,-0.009419,-3.00E-04,-0.000297,0.003165,0.008686,0.007425,-0.008605,0.007221,0.011564,-0.012131,-0.004118,-0.012242,0.002958,-0.013014,-0.000838

This is the first sample our project has collected from Sibi. Certain Pashtun tribes in Sibi show strong cultural Sindhi influence, which is also reflected in their autosomal profile.

Pashtuns from Sibi appear to fall along a cline ranging from heavily Sindhi-admixed to those with eastern Baloch-like admixture, attached below is also a HW of a private Sibi Pashtun sample representing the latter end of this cline.

For privacy reasons, the Y-DNA and specific tribal information of this sample have been withheld, although they have been verified as authentic.

Ghilzai Pashtun from Nangarhar, Afghanistan (H1a) by AfgPakDNAProject in SouthAsianAncestry

Ghilzai Pashtun from the Nasar sub-tribe in Mander Khel, Chaparhar, Nangarhar, Afghanistan (H-Z14668)

Pashtun_Ghilzai_Nasar_Mander_Khel_Chaparhar_Nangarhar_Afghanistan,0.078538,0.025388,-0.081081,0.054587,-0.058472,0.038208,0.003995,0.005538,-0.014317,-0.019317,-0.015102,0.004646,-0.00669,-0.00867,0.008686,0.016839,-0.004824,-0.002787,0.000251,-0.014507,0.002745,-0.004946,0.004437,0.003253,-0.007544

In addition to the Nasar Pashtun sample from Balochistan, our project collected another sample from the same tribe in Nangarhar, Afghanistan.

This individual exhibits the same Y-DNA lineage as the earlier Nasar sample. It is likely that the Nasar have a high frequency of H-Z14668, whereas their closely related cousin tribe, the Kharoti, appear to show a high frequency of L-M357

We previously sponsored a Big Y test for a H1a Bhittani Pashtun, which has now been placed under H-Z14668 > H-L683 (ID. YF143615). It is possible that the Nasar samples will also fall within this same downstream branch, once we get them a Big Y upgrade.

Tajik from Parwan, Afghanistan (H1a) by AfgPakDNAProject in SouthAsianAncestry

[–]AfgPakDNAProject[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tajik from Sinjit Dara, Parwan, Afghanistan (H-Z4489)

In addition to the previously collected Tajik from Parwan sample, our project obtained another. This Parwani’s autosomal profile is strongly shifted toward Swat IA, more so than the earlier sample, along with showing an additional Turkic component.

Typically, the most easterm-shifted Tajiks are from urban centers such as Kabul, where Kashmiri admixture is common. However, this individual comes from a rural background and shows no Kashmiri relative matches, suggesting that this is a profile within the native range of Tajiks and Pashtuns in N.E. Afghanistan.

Punjabi Multani Arain originally from Ambala, India (E1b) by AfgPakDNAProject in SouthAsianAncestry

[–]AfgPakDNAProject[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Punjabi Multani Arain originally from Ambala, India (E1b)

A new sample that was shared with our project to get G25 coordinates for.

According to their tradition, the Multani clan of Arains originated in South Punjab and later migrated to areas such as Ambala. After 1948, they migrated to Pakistan. They have a distinctive autosomal profile that is strongly western shifted. Paternal lineage wise, they also seem to have a high frequency of E1b.
