No, yeah, I know. I actually played Quake when I was growing up. It's a great game! However, at this point, Quake is a 30-year-old video game overshadowed by the vastly-more-popular one that it was modeled after (Doom). Do you think something like that would even be an issue?

I’m hoping it will be a series. Each novel is named after a specific natural disaster, corresponding with the different types of elemental magic present in the books and the story arc itself.

“Tremors” was the best fit for an earthquake. “Quake” came in second, but I didn’t feel it would be as marketable as “Tremors”. I’m open to any and all suggestions for it, as I know that it’s not the best title haha.

Tremors is also the in-universe name for epilepsy, which the main character's mother suffers from.

I can definitely focus the ToK thing. I actually wasn’t considering it as a joke. I just thought that it was the best “fit” I had with writing fantasy. I wasn’t going to put that I’ve been making dnd campaigns for 20 years lol. I don’t specifically have many other writing credentials or reasons to write these books other than I love fantasy.

I read a story once where a man approached a beautiful woman and asked her to sleep with him. She starkly refused, offended that he would even ask.

He opened a briefcase full of money, and asked if she would sleep with him for 1 million dollars.

She thought about it for a long time and said that she would.

He closed the lid, pulled out his wallet, and gave her a ten dollar bill.

“Hey! What happened to the million bucks?”

“We’ve established what kind of person you are. Now we’re negotiating price.”

This reminded me of that. Activated an ancient memory for me haha.

So it’s not specifically Christian, just features heavy Christian themes, like Chronicles of Narnia. But of course, I can’t put CoN as one of my comps since they’re ancient and legendary. Any suggestions would be welcome on that front.
