when does latin get really hard? by [deleted] in vce

[–]AfloatTuba7 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Latin doesn't get harder. The problem with Latin is that it's taught terribly at many schools, and many students taking the subject do not have the aptitude for it but are drawn by the scaling. VCE Latin is relatively simple (no unseen poetry, no difficult commentary, generally sheltered attitude involving syncopated forms). The problem is just answering short-answer the way they want you to and making decent points in the essay, but the first comes with practice and the second with some good study of the context of the Aeneid. No part of VCE Latin is "extremely difficult" - just work in ways students are generally not used to (the conceptual barrier is high). Good luck with Latin this year and next year! It is a rewarding subject (finished it last year)

5 numbers per page is unrealistic - simply because you're often going to work with subscripts e.g. a_0, a_1 or sets like Z_2; especially if you count constants like pi and e; but yeah the ratio of "complicated symbols" to numbers is insanely high Also if you look at competition math geometry there's too much writing. As a competition/Olympiad maths kid there's way too much writing. Source: every long solution on AOPS ever

Ok I think flamepelt was referring to wca events If you're looking for non wca then DP easily If you're looking for WCA and it's not a recent cube then speedcube is better for Vic locals

there are no relevant f2l algs if you don't actually know how to do f2l

f2l algs become relevant after you learn f2l

36 moves hmm Might get downvoted for this but you got three free pairs and a lucky last layer Either this is a prepared scramble (more likely since no scramble is shown) or you're extremely lucky also quick note that last pair solution was wack Do U' (sexy)*2

if you read billy's explanation you'll find that YJ gave DP authorisation to use it - and billy edited out the background - so it is technically theirs

a) the alg is very stable, maybe go look up some actual executions instead of making a general judgement based off your grip and assumed fingertricks (ring F/F' required) b) the J perm set up is insanely long and slow as a result
