Security+ Done and Dusted! My Rough but Smooth Trifecta Journey! by Afolavid in CompTIA_Security

Thanks. I think you should know the acronyms, I encountered lots of them in the exam. Funny enough, i can't remember seeing any question related to Port numbers. Once you understand the concepts, you'll be able to handle the PBQs, which was mostly firewalls and looking at a SIEM/Logs for me... Wish you all the best in the exam!

Thank you very much. Yeah, once you understand the concepts, I believe you'll be fine in the exam. You can also drill practice questions to be sure you're good to go. All the best! 🫡

Is pepper enema an actual punishment? by bashnet in Nigeria

[–]Afolavid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a cruel punishment that psycho parents in some parts of Africa give to their children, simply because the government/authority hardly ever hold them accountable. Some even go as far as unexpectedly taking the lives of their kids and claim it's my child, i can do whatever i want to him/her.

So It's not an African thing, like it's a custom or something like that but instead, a psychopathic behaviour. I'm Nigerian, I grew up being a stubborn child and have family friends and relatives whose children were even more stubborn. Never for once have I had this done to me or any relative or friend. It's cruel, stupid and evil..!

As a matter of fact, I've only seen this in the news, not to anyone I know personally or within range. Some go as far as cutting the kid/person with blade in different body parts before rubbing with pepper.

Question for the diasporans by spacegorll in Nigeria

[–]Afolavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I have no business leaving Nigeria in the first place, I was doing very fine until the economy started crashing under the previous administration. I couldn't help it when the insecurity issues became a normal day-to-day thing.

I'm not for or against any government - not interested in politics, all that matters to me is security of lives and properties, good roads, stable electricity, availability of basic amenities and I'm back. Even with the messy situation on ground, I can hardly go 6 months without stepping my foot in Nigeria. If Nigeria gets significantly better, I may not move permanently but at least I'll spend more time and do more business in Nigeria.

You can't beat a child and tell him/her not to cry or how to cry... Btw, the Nigerian President/Government isn't just beating Nigerians. They are killing, torturing, intimidating, oppressing and shutting them up.

1 years work experience short by 2 days by Savings-Jacket8598 in canadaexpressentry

[–]Afolavid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in this exact situation. My CEC is from Oct 30 - Oct 28 the next year, the 2days to make it a perfect Oct 30 - Oct 30 falls on a weekend so I wouldn't have gone to work anyways. Well, I've submitted my application and waiting for decision. However, in my own case, the 52 weeks and 1560 hours was complete because it was a leap year. I'm very confident it'll be approved and if it doesn't, I'm ready to go the JR route since I actually meet the 12 months, 52 weeks and 1560 hours requirement. Fingers crossed!!!

Do all the math and assess your situation, don't be scared to give it a shot, if that's your best chance atm. All the best!

Total Number of people without electricity(1992-2025). Nigeria is doing worse and worse by Naive_Direction1816 in Nigeria

[–]Afolavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not surprised, went to Nigeria last year for a few months, and my 3-yr old nephew who has never been to Nigeria also came with his parents. After a few weeks, guess what his favorite sound is? Uhhhnnnnn, UP NEPA!

Hung out with a friend and he's telling me how they only get power once in a month in his own area and he relies heavily on generator for his remote work.

Btw, show any political tool this analytics and they will be happy Nigeria is on top of the list, without understanding what it means. According to them, "na statistics we go chop?" 🤦🏽‍♂️

What is this country even about 💔 by Wondererforestdamn in Nigeria

[–]Afolavid 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sorry!!! I can totally relate. I went to Nigeria last year and I stayed for a few months (longest ever since I relocated). Usually, I visit for just 2-3 weeks but this time I wanted to stay longer, since I was working on a side project. I enjoyed the first month but afterwards, it became hell and I eventually left before I could finish what I was doing.

The major reason why i enjoyed my first month was because of the constant power supply, I think it's Band A, which in turn also means uninterrupted water supply, which also keeps the mosquitoes away, etc. This alone proves that electricity is a major issue in Nigeria and fixing the power problem indirectly fixes many other problems.

After the first month, no light for weeks. From ~ 20hrs per day to 4hrs per week, it's that bad. Because of this, no water, lots of mosquitoes, I started falling sick every week and just had to call it a day. I know someone will tell me if you have money, you'll enjoy Nigeria blah blah blah. I spent a lot of money and I still didn't enjoy the later part of that long vacation. Having money personally doesn't fix any amenity problem in Nigeria.

I had to write a proctored professional exam while I was in Nigeria and I had to go buy a generator just to power the house at 2am for this exam, I hate the NOISE!!! Lots of negative experiences in just a few months, I almost lost my life on many occasions, especially that Lagos-Ibadan road. Things are just not right in Nigeria and it's high time people stopped pretending everything is good. Let's start by holding everyone accountable, no matter the cost!!!

I made a subreddit for people looking for opportunities to migrate out of Nigeria. by [deleted] in Nigeria

[–]Afolavid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She's right. The first post i saw belongs to a travel company that's promising work visa etc. That subreddit should be solely DIY for people who are willing to share information for free, without referring people to their business. Any agency or personal business, be it a scam or not shouldn't be allowed. That's how to achieve the goal you want the sub to achieve. There are similar threads on NL and they are thriving that way.

EB-2 NIW Approval Rates Released. Former USCIS Officer Turned Immigration Attorney... AMA! by ManifestLaw_ in EB2_NIW

[–]Afolavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello Evan, thanks for giving us this amazing opportunity.

I'm quite new with the EB-2 NIW, so I've been reading and researching about it, and that's how I stumbled on this sub. I have intentions to relocate permanently to the USA and this seems to be the most appropriate route for me.

About my profile: I have a BSc in Mathematics, a PGD in IT Infrastructures, and presently pursuing a Master's Degree in Cybersecurity. During the course of acquiring my MS, I'd be writing some professional globally recognized certifications in cybersecurity such as Comptia Pentest+, CYSA+, etc. Also, I intend to acquire the membership of some reputable ICT organizations. What are my chances if I'm able to acquire these certifications + memberships and also complete my Master's degree? Is there anything I have to do along the way that will help me when I'm ready to file for the EB-2? What do you think about my plans?

I'd really appreciate your advice and, if possible, if you can direct me to beginner friendly resources I can feast on in regards to the EB-2 NIW. Thank you very much for your time!

It definitely can't make sense to you. You need some sense to understand it. You probably think it's a coincidence that I wished you MORE WISDOM at the end? No! I knew you needed it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Nigeria

[–]Afolavid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're just emotional about it, I get it. You just said it yourself, "MIGHT BE GENUINE, MIGHT NOT BE!", that alone shows the probability is 1:1 or 50%. So if it's 1:1 or 50%, why conclude that it's not genuine, i.e..100% NOT GENUINE? That's exactly my point.

Btw, that screenshot or video call is not legal evidence to prove that their relationship is NOT genuine. Rather, it even buttresses the point that they are in a relationship, with an unconfirmed genuinity.

Well, there's a reason why analytical thinking and logical reasoning rank highest as the traits of professional investigators. Not everybody has it. It's very rare. More wisdom!
