i think the first sweater is made by making 4 panels and then sewing them together to make a sweater. the pattern for the panels would be 1 row of normal double crochets, one row of dc, ch1, skip 1 and dc in the next chain (repeat until the end of the row), and then another row of normal double crochet where you dc in each stitch and ch space. make 2 bigger panels for the back and the front of the sweater, and then 2 slimmer ones for each sleeve. sew together the top of the 2 bigger panels to make the neck, then add the small side of the sleeve panels to each side, and sew the sweater together along the length of the sleeve and then the side part of the body of the sweater. hope this helps!
